Industry Heavyweight Joins New Start-up Set to Revolutionise Game Development.

Geomerics, an exciting new technology company founded earlier this year, today announced that Julian Davis will be joining as Chief Technology Officer. Davis has previously held the position of Technical Director at Kuju Entertainment for the past 6 years.

Julian Davis, who has been an active participant on the Microsoft Graphics and Xbox advisory boards, is highly regarded and brings a wealth of videogame industry knowledge and experience to Geomerics.

Davis enthused, "I am delighted to be joining Geomerics. I am confident that their technology will revolutionise the way that video games are made, and will offer substantial advantages and benefits to developers and publishers of next generation titles."

Dr Chris Doran, CEO of Geomerics added, "There is no doubt that Julian is an industry heavyweight and will be a valuable asset to us. We are truly excited to have him on board. It is early days but we are confident that our technology will cause quite a stir when unveiled."

Geomerics has utilized the power of 'geometric algebra' to provide exciting and innovative solutions to geometric problems in real time. This technology is poised to transform computer graphics in gaming, providing a major step-change improvement over the current state-of-the-art in terms of speed, achievable effects, and ease of programming.

Geomerics is an ANGLE Technology Progeny Company

Geomerics has secured intellectual property in the field of geometric algebra. Geometric Algebra is a powerful new form of mathematics that vastly simplifies complex geometric calculations. Geometric Algebra has its origins in the rather esoteric academic discipline of theoretical cosmology, but it has now been developed for application in a wide variety of disparate commercial applications such as graphics in videogames. Geomerics' technology provides a major step-change improvement over the competition, and is set to revolutionise the market. Overall the market for computer games is currently worth more than $30bn and growing rapidly, and the market for graphics within these games is worth over $600m per year. 1 - Educational Software for X-Box 360?
Unregistered - Tom Schaefer 12.07.2005 13:05
Hello,

I was hoping "inovators" such as this might pursue eLearning opportunities on XBox 360. Does anyone know of any companies currently or planning on developing educational software for XBox 360? A SCORM reader and moodle-like LMS service through XBox Live would be a good start into what could be both a huge software market, but make some parents feel better about a $300+ investment.

i thought this was about a new form of on screen visual polygons, in which using the software would enable a higher number of polygons to be drawn with greater ease thus improving performance. I didn't know that ist had something to do with an educational system, the 'Algebra' term i thought was just the name for the process.

i see your point but isn't what you're saying completely off the subject here?

Anyway if it was educational it would have to be awfully good to make people buy it as the general idea is that educational titles are purely that- educational (and are boring). Most people would never learn from it or after getting it (or recieving it as a present) never play it)

Good idea though.

This technology proves that Xbox360 graphics can be just as good as PS3 graphics, which is movie like, so they say. In the next few years Microsoft will give Sony a worth challenge. One more thing, I heard Nintendo Revolution could be just as powerful as the original Xbox, which is not Revolutionary in my opinion. The only thing Nintendo is relying is that control of theirs.

7 - Comment #6. I can't take it anymore. Something for all of you to think about.

If I read one more comment comparing the Xbox360's graphics to the PS3, I'll puke. It seems like everyone has bought into the hype of a console that existed more on paper than its E3 showing. I'm convinced that after the specs and attractive case design of the Xbox360 was leaked onto the internet; Sony felt pressured to rush something for its revealing at E3. Do people really think it was just a coincidence that Sony's console has a convex shape compared to the concave shape of the 360. Come on, it was obviously a last minute concept design. They took a look at the 360's specs and quickly decided to bump up their numbers without going too overboard. The teraflops, the extra 50 on the Nvidia graphics card, seven wireless controlers (clear evidence that they aren't taking online gaming serious enough). They increased numbers everywhere, but could not answer the online infrastructure of the 360. Sony clearly reiterated that the Killzone2 trailer was realtime gameplay. The developers didn't even have dev kits to work with. So what hardware was used. To lie about something like that is just unforgiving. The mistake that Sony made at E3 was its flawless misleading trailers. They were too far along for unfinished hardware. Sony was even too shameful to show Sega's Phantom Saga game so they pretended that it never existed. The games Sony showed at E3 looked further along than any of Microsofts games that were still in progress. So why the hell hasn't the PS3 been released in the critical holiday shopping season. And someone tell Sony to stop selling the b.s. that all of the NDA, secrets, and spring realease is just part of their strategy. Most of the developers like Capcom, don't even know what's going on, but they want us to buy the damn thing.

It's the buisness world and that says it all. Companies in direct competition have been doing this for years. Sony is scared they will lose their core players.

i cant wait for the next set of games they will be sweet now that they have the right dev kit and they are getting the experience

10 - Screw PS3

The graphics are going to be similar and the two machines PS3 AND THE 360 ARE GOING TO BE JUST LIKE A PS2 AND ORIGINAL XBOX COMPARISON. BOX REALLY THE SAME EXCEPT EACH ONE HAS A FEW COOLER THINGS AND THE XBOX LIVE IS THE COOLEST THING FOSHO!
