Yesterday, in an online chat, Christian Allen, lead multiplayer designer, and Gilles Matouba, game designer revealed some new details about the 360 version of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. In the beginning of the chat Christian and Gilles talked about the online aspect of the game. It was revealed that the game will not support clans, which will probably disappoint the hardcore Ghost Recons fans. However, it was far from all bad news as the game will feature online co-op play with exclusive missions for the Xbox 360, and will allow for up to 16 players to take part in online matches.
"Due to the early stage of Xbox Live on 360, we are not currently planning to support clans initially at launch," said Allen. "Yes, we are fully supporting Co-op play, both with the customizable game mode system, and an all new co-op campaign...once you finish the SP campaign, you have a whole new game to start." It was also mentioned how the game will be pushing the power of the Xbox 360. The game runs on a game engine that has been specially tailored for the Xbox 360’s three core CPU, making full use of the processing power the console has to offer. "We were able to push the power of the 360 using our Multi Core technology, which means we can push the 3 processors to the max in terms of animation, post fx, HDR and so on," said Matouba. When asked what was best about the Xbox 360 the two game designers were most impressed with the new Xbox Live -- "The greatest thing for us is the new live interface and rich presence. Now players have a consistent profile, friends list, etc," said Allen. "This takes the work off of the plates of the developers, and ensures the players have a consistent experience across all Live games." Also worth mentioning is that the game will have both first-person and over-the-shoulder views. So far the game has no official release date, but the latest we heard was March 2006. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Add Comment Unregistered - justin 12.08.2005 13:50 i hear closer to end of summer Unregistered - ubi suck 12.08.2005 13:58 why remove the first person view with weapon??? we were shown fake ass cgi, i hope thi game flops, they dont listen to there fans, over 98% of people want the weapon view..but gues what..... 360 is the ONLY version that dosnt get it, we get the half ass floating eyeball rubish. i hope it fails badly. Unregistered - stumped 12.08.2005 14:45 whatever ubi-hater. so don't buy it. but I know I will. this is the best game series out there. and this one will be no exception. can't wait. Unregistered - Silverback 12.08.2005 15:05 I didn't play the other versions partly because I heard that there was no first person view; I heavily dislike 3rd person persectives unless neccessary. Does anyone have any more info on what the first person view will be like? Unregistered - Oblivion 12.08.2005 15:32 What differnce does it make if you register to this site?Oh and GO GHOST RECON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Motojass 12.08.2005 15:55 They will have first person view without the weapon and over the shoulder view. IMO I would rather they had the first person weapon view as well as the over the shoulder view. An FPS with no weapon view is terribly lame and should be an option. Unregistered - YomasterXBL 12.08.2005 18:21 One thing I noticed though is that in the actual gameplay trailer it showed a FPS view with a gun. I really hope that the "No Gun View" thing isn't true, because I really miss being able to see my awesome-looking gun in my awesome-looking game. I doubt the "No Gun View" will keep me from trying it out, but it might keep me from buying the game. But I want the original Ghost Recon gameplay back! It was awesome! I don't think that any of the games after the first were as good as the very first Ghost Recon on the XBox. Unregistered - Ken Katuragi 12.09.2005 04:28 Why not put a Live Demo on Live as a test platform Because at the moment no real shooter is there JsonHenry 12.09.2005 07:43 Well, that sucks for people who like the FP view with a weapon. For me, I always play third person if I have the option. You can see more around you, and see where you are standing better than in FPS mode. Unregistered - Sixer 12.09.2005 14:50 Both Ghost Recon 2 games (as well as other Clancy titles) are now on the backwards compatible list for 360! I'm at work so I have not tested it, but there they are. Summit Strike will tide me over until AWF. Six Yo Wassap 12.09.2005 15:54 i hope you can see ya gun, better accuracy than searching for a crosshair Unregistered - Nickboxer7 12.09.2005 21:45 Too Tight. Unregistered - Brandon 12.09.2005 21:49 This game started out looking horrible but is coming out to be 1 of the top looking games there is o and to the person whining about gun view can u not read they said ITS GONNA BE 1ST PERSON AND OVER THE SHOULDER VIEW. So go get ur eyes examined. Unregistered - Unknown 12.10.2005 00:01 What are they thinking? Make the game either first person or third person, don't flip flop during the game. Online play isn't fun when people play in third person and just stay behind a rock and can see everything, then just pop out and get a kill. Also, you would think by now that the developers would add a clan feature since ghost recon is one of the best games to have clans on. Unregistered - Dem Franchize Boyz 12.10.2005 09:52 wow;the game look better . Yo Wassap 12.10.2005 10:41 you are stupid, i said that you'd better be able to see the gun, i meant in first person read the other complaints. Man i'm surpised you manage to survive with so few brain cells Motojass 12.10.2005 12:00 Yeah why don't you read the earlier posts...mabye you need your eyes checked. There will be NO! Weapon view in first person on the 360. Someone always has a attitude. Unregistered - ththgshgf 12.10.2005 18:37 OT: Costco got a shipment of 360's in today. My costco had 100. Check there if you want to get one. Unregistered - Recon Man 12.10.2005 20:01 Is this going to be 4 player coop campaign over live?? Unregistered - nefarious 12.11.2005 16:50 I cant wait for this game. I loved the GR series on the XBox. The lack of seeing your weapon in FP view is almost to be expected in a GR game. Its almost like a signature feature for the series. omegaheat 12.13.2005 08:56 To have a shooter with the option of over the shoulder view and first person view (view of weapon+awareness) would easily set the new benchmark for first-person shooters. Not being able to see your weapon in first-person perspective would totally kill the game and make it feel outdated. It just makes no sense not to see your firepower. Developers, please use some common sense when it comes down to these decisions.
