Get Ready for Launch: “Take Two”

If Microsoft is to hit their 90 day target of 3 million units, which Microsoft spokeswoman Molly O'Donnell said the company is firmly on track to achieve, a huge shipment of Xbox 360s is most likely hitting US stores before Christmas. American Technology Research analyst Paul-Jon McNealy says he expects Microsoft to ship another 300,000 units in the next week in North America.

Not surprisingly Best Buy will be getting a big slice of this second shipment (between 30 – 50 per store) on December 16th. However, according to several best buy employees they won’t go on sale until December 18th. Considering the growing demand for the new console December 18th could end up as a replay of the launch day with gamers camping outside of Best Buy stores.

I think each Best Buy around the Nation should get an equal amount of Xbox 360's. I live in Indiana and the Best Buy here is getting only 24 consoles. I saw one store on the list that's getting 104 of them. To me, that's really unfair. I think each store should get at least 35 to 40 instead of some only getting 24 and others getting 70 or more. To the people that think I'm whining I'm not, I want everyone out there to have a equal chance to get one.

about damn time. And re: not enough in Indiana, the one with 104 is likely a much larger best buy, serving more people, than the one where you live (perhaps it's in New York?). Sorry, but not that many people live in Indiana. If your best buy got as many as everyone else's, you'd have a much BETTER chance of getting one than they would.

I don't think 24 units to the local best buy with maybe a few more to walmart is going to mean everyone that wants one will get them. Are you kidding me?? Microsoft has created a large mess and right before the holidays. If everyone were smart they would wait until the PS3 came out and forget the xbox altogether.

If they ship another 300,000 Units(as they say) That is almost as much as they've sold to the present. You might have to wait till the new year as will I but there is a much better chance this time around. I myself love the xbox and all that it has to offer.

Listen up people, i went to a local best buy store last weekend and asked everyone that worked there when they are getting the xbox 360, they all played dumb and said uh i think mid december sometime. Then i spoke with the manager and he said dec. 18 for sure no sooner. Then i called the same best buy yesterday and they said uh dec. 19. As far as I know EB Games received their second shipment on the 12th, at least my local one did. They received a whopping two units. Apparently EB Games HQ determines how many units to ship to each store by how many related accessories and games each store has sold or pre-ordered. Hypothetically speaking, if I pre-ordered mine in August from a high volume store and you pre-ordered yours from a far less productive store back in June, I could conceivably get mine before you, even though you ordered yours several months before me. Called my local Best Buy this am. He told me the shipment would arrive on Friday Dec. 16 and that the xbox 360 units would go on sale on Sunday Dec. 18. He said to call up on Saturday to reconfirm and also said to expect long lines for purchasing. Three stores in the area will be receiving 32, 24 and 42 units. We'll see what happens. He mentioned that Sam's and Walmarts don't have their shipments yet...which leads me to believe that they may also be getting shipments. I hope he was feeling the heat from possible competition and trying to direct me to his store. Who knows? All in all this supply shortage is a major pain in the rear if you are trying to make some little kid happy on xmas morning. I'm encountering the same problem with the super mario dance game.

I got mine Friday the 9th at Costco in Indianapolis. They got 100 premiums!!! The target by me has also beenn getting shipments. Don't waste your time camping out, cause if u call around, u should be able to get one somewhere else. Best Buy is just tryin to get a ton of peeps in thier store, but the employee's are sick off all the calls and want one so they act dumb.

It is about time, but a 2nd shipment of 50 or more arrived about a week ago at our military naval exchange market. They sold so fast i didn't even knew they even got another stock. on launch day they had 96 premium consoles and sold in the same way.

Read my post from earlier, the employees will lie to you or give you the run around because they want one themselves. I spoke with a best buy manager and he told me for sure dec. 18 no sooner. Then i called the same store the next day and spoke with some teenage employee and he said uh dec. 19, yea dec.19 wise up best buy will be posting the ad for the xbox 360 sunday dec 18. what does that tell you?

I called my store which is #560 and talked to the manager who was very nice and told me YES we are for sure getting 360's on the 18th and that the store was opening early at about 8:00 am first come first serve and he confirmed they WILL be doing the TICKET thing where they hand them out im going to get in line at about 2:00 the day before BC i am getting it b4 Christmas so that means ill be first and I will waiting for a total of about 18 hours. and when i get it im going to stay in the store for a lil bit bc i dont wanna get mugged n shot!!!!!!

I, too, will camp out because I want to buy one for my son. The reason I'm doing this is because I want my son to be happy on Christmas. There's really nothing wrong with camping out, because you meet new people and you make friends. I went over my friends house and all the games hes put in his system are incredibly scratched and he takes good care of his stuff like for his xbox and ps2 his games have no scratches! They shouldnt have done a World Wide launch to begin with. Americans are camping out and spending thousands for a console while the japs are slashing prices trying to get rid of stock. I'm a 36 yr old male trying to get one for my 8 yr old son, so we both can do some gaming on Christmas day.
Disks don't arbitarially scratch by themselves..the instructions mention that if the game is in use , not to move it horizontally or vertically .
And if you have the unit standing up with the bottom on the carpet , the fans don't effectively cool the way there supposed to, thus making the unit get warm...and they don't shut off every 5 minutes , so stop spreading falsities.
I went to 3 Best Buys (on Weds night the 14th) , all are within 20 miles
to get a grip of whats going on , some people were totlly ignorant , some didn't have a clue , some were very rude...I looked for a mgr in one store and
found him in hiding...he claimed that they will get on the 16th and they are to hold them until the 18th no exceptions . He mentioned that not as many people have inquired lately...but they were going to have a system set up so
that it will be fair...he thinks they will hand out tickets to those in line
prior to the store opening. I asked can you buy more than one , 1 per household he quickly replied .He thinks there will be campers but if the weather stinks ,people won't be as accomodating...he mentioned Wamart and Target as well...but no one knows when they will get thiers , but he hinted within a week of from them getting thiers .
In my travels and talking to people , all in all not to bad...but I think some people are lying or they are to lazy to answer...c'mon , I don't know ?

Othere stores are getting them weekly, they are just not making a big deal like Best Buy. And i f u do plan on camping out get there hella early. Just to make you know I'm an xbox fan, but this fan has nothing against PS3. The PS3 is going to be not only a great system,but a expensive one that could be out of consumers price range. The games might go to 80-100 dollars, which would be a problem for many. Microsoft wanted to make a sytem that's affordable to consumers,so lower price means more consumer hungry. If you are camping, I suggest you to go at 4 am ( 4 hours early). Lines won't be super long as this isn't "release". But about 10 minutes before they open, it will pile up.

I live in Los Angeles, a very busy place and i asked the first guy in line how long he has been waiting he was like dude since 4am and that was the first launch date that everyone knew about, so i predict 4am would insure you an xbox 360. No moms and dads really know about it. I work at Best Buy and it says we are getting 26 units, I double checked this at the store and yes we are getting 26 premiums, and 2 cores. So I think all the numbers are lower then what the stores are really getting. Not by much but they are getting a lot less core systems this time. Also being an employee there because others runined in on the launch by hiding some of the systems, I am not allowed to buy one this time around. That makes me pissed I was hoping to get it before Christmas. So thanks you to the few who ruined it for many others.

You know, I really believe that other stores are going to get them in as well.
We have 4 Best Buys in my area , (Va Beach Va. area) all within about a 25 mile
radius. At 12:30 am , I'm going to make my rounds as I know approx how many each store is getting...I will minus 2-3 just in case of error , when I get there
I will count how many people are in line and then decide if I should stay ..according to the mgr at one, he is expecting 70 which coincides with the posting on the stores #'s, and down hill from there but no less than 24.
I'm gonna be prepared , got a portable handheld TV with plenty of batts..fold up chair , umbrella in case it rains, rain coat, warm cloths, gloves, hat , hot beverages, some snacks in my mini cooler...gonna ask the wife if I can open up the 30 gig Ipod I seen in the closet , (ain't gonna happen), and about $700.00 bucks cause I'll buy some games and other goodies.
If I strike out , which I kinda doubt , I will be buzzing to Walmart, Target,
Fryes, Costo , these guys gotta be getting something in before the 25th...I'm gonna take a nap around 7-8 pm...set the alarm clock to . Steve, what you said isn't true. All of the gamers in your area wont be at bestbuy, reason being is because most of them have a 360 now. As I said, this isn't release. Costco has received a second shipment of 100, so have target, WM etc. And they are all getting even more stock. And like someone said earlier, Target had 837 of them in stock today. Not to mention eb games, gamestop etc. Didn't get your preorder from eb or GS? Then you need to argue with them. They have sold over 6,000 units online the past couple of days.

I have the Best Buy ad in front of me for Sunday am. It has the Xbox360 on the front page and says "It's here. Get it now. Limited quanities. No Rainchecks." The ad just shows the premium system (399.99). Also says minimum 20 per store. The adsfor Sundays paper usually are in our warehouse a week before the paper comes out.

You have to be alert...and talk to people,be fun, be friendly , bring snacks and share some ,you can become popular at these camp outs... people will look out for you and don't complain and make stupid statements, it's a turn off...for the most part from what I saw there was no cutting going on. If people try to be slick someone will say something...I even saw people taking turns sleeping in the car rotating.
If people walk up to you asking info...don't act like a know it all , if you have an answer...share it if it's factual.

I just went down to my local Best Buy in Chicago and talked to some people. I spoke to some one from the warehouse and she said she counted them herself! They are deffinitely going on sale the 18th. I tried to confirm the # of consoles but all she said was there were a little over 50. this is good news considering that store was supposed to get 42! maybe all the stores will get more. I work at a Target in Colorado, not telling which one obviously. So we have an official Microsoft letter and an electronics update that I read yesterday. The posting says all targets will be receiving 7,000 Xbox's (Mainly Premium packs, yes this was in the letter and highlighted) in the next week leading up to the 24th, meaning this number will be split up accordingly and sent to Targets, stores who sold the most games and accessories get more Xbox's. Than the last week of December after the 24th, Targets will be getting another 19,000 to split accordingly. The bullshit thing is Target can raffle them to team members so if they get them they might not even put them out! Haha yes I know it's bull, but I already have mine so I won't complain.

Just got in from Xmas shopping today and stopped by two of the 3 Best Buys in my area and talked to a very nice supervisor , very proffessional and to the point. According to the post of how many each store was getting it was off by
18 , his store was supposed to get 70 and he peronally helped checking them in, so he knows exactly how many he has....I did ask if I could buy one now , jokingly asked...he replied ,sorry no can do. I asked him how were they going to handle it in the morning and he stated the following:
Well I'd get here between 6-8 pm the night before...(bring your gear),tickets will be handed out at 7:30 am sharp..with another mgr and security officer present...infact they plan on having several for a morning shift ,one inside and one outside to
watch you make your way to your car. He also suggested figuring out what number you are very early on...it will be very controlled , if someone sneezes
the wrong way, they will loose there spot, meaning if someone tries to butt thier way upand people complain or report that someone tried to get over.
After the tickets are handed out and the store opens at 8:00am you will be able to shop and games and assesories will be encouraged but not forced...absolutely 1 per household, no exceptions.
If you don't pick up your 360 in a reasonable time...it will be put out and sold...I assume 2 hrs . It's been known that people will "sell" thier spot in line , they will not disqualify that issue , that is between the seller and buyer, no one else can intervene as per the supervisor I talked to.
This guy was the best person I talked to in weeks ,he answered every question..was honest, straight shooter...
I'm going to go out about 6:00 pm to see whats up , I'm gonna have my stuff ready if I see a line forming...I'll jump in..I got 4 Best Buys in my area
of a 25 mile radious, I know how many each are getting, I'll be counting...my son and I will have it on the 25th.

I think being there around 6am the same morning will be good enough. Remember Best Buy aint the only store getting them on the 18th. Accoring to Gamepro.com, all major retailers should have them on Sunday, Plus most stores have been getting them every week especially COstco which has been getting hundreds recently. At lunch there was only 6 people waiting at 6am at my local Best Buy. I didnt get one because I had to bring my son to the hospital for testing. I hope everyone that has written here gets one especially the dads that want to surprise their sons or daughters.

I get at best buy at 3pm saturday evening and there is 8 people in front of me already, so i wait in line and about 8pm people start to show up and i go accross the street to best buy while my mom holds my place. I get back and these new people are in the back of the line. We had started a list where you signed your name as soon as you got there. I was 9 on the list, so the manager comes out saying we cant have a list and dont listen to our list of people and what order they go in. So then there is a big mess of people moving chairs and gettting in front of people. So these people think they are going to cut in line and get in front of me and i had been there 5 hours longer than they had. So these people beside of me set up a tent and they bring a projection t.v. and shine it on the side of best buy and play xbox. Every thing settles down but then around 6am this morning, people start to fuss and whine and we get passed by 3 people who got there 3 hours after i did. My step dad tells them they better get in the back and then this police officer that is off duty waiting with his daugter tries to enforce the list, this man we call " reverend jessie jackson " tells them that they should stay there, then the cops start crusing around best buy every 30 min or so to check things out, Then at 7:30,(15 min before they hand out tickets) we get in the order of the list and the mean manager calls you buy your name on the list and you go inside in the warmth for about 10 min and you line up in the order of your number and follow the crowd. The process of buying the 360 was very easy and i am very happy with the way my best buy handled the whole thing.
P.S.- someone said their was no bonus media remote with the 2nd shipments, my 360 has a sticker on it that says bonus media remote. To bad i cant play the darn thing untill christmas... if the whole story was a complete waist of your time i apologize.

Hey guy I just got back from a long night at best Buy. I got there at 12:00 just to see if anyone was lining up. IN FACT there was alot of people already in line. My store was getting 30 premiums and 2 cores. A guy working at Best buy came around with a waiting list. I rushed out of the car and he said whats ur name and I was spot number 30.... The last Premium. I was Stoked. The only thing Is I had 18 hours until I would get it. TURNED out my BB lets U get out of line for an hour or so. So It really wasnt that bad. A kid got a TV a XBOX and Chairs And Heaters and We camped it all night. WHEN I wake Up I see 50 more pople or so thinking theya re getting one when I knwo Im the last one. At 6:00 am they passed out tickets. People that werent getting one said they were going to stampede and riot the store. The BB manager guy came out ( he was chill) said GO home Ur not getting one. LOL Anyways I got the last Premium and IM really happy its worth the wait, Especially when you are watching comedy central with heaters and food. -ABC123

I got to my best buy in Chicago at 5:30 on sat. I was 2nd in line and waited 14 hrs in 14 degrees out side. The best buy employees kept coming out and laughing at us the night before. After the long wait i got inside and was the first to hold my 360. It was surreal! Before they opened a couple of guys were scouting the place out and the manager had to call the cops. When we got to the car one of the guys drove up and tried to box us in but a cop rolled around the corner and the guy sped off. The cops pursued him and we got out of there. No Bull S!@#. I am at home, warm and enjoying the fruits of my labor. Be safe!

I ask that question to those who are complaining about not getting one b/c my neighbor who didn't even want one except to sell on ebay got his yesterday from Wal Mart. If you really wanted one you should have it by now. It's been posted on here for about 2 weeks when BB was getting more, all you had to do was camp out for maybe 24 hrs. at the most, probably less in most places. It's a small price to pay for something everybody wants. Also in these posts are numerous stories of people getting them from Costco, Target, and Wal Mart. They get small shipments every few days or so, you just have to be pursistant about calling them regularly, more than once or twice a day. In fact, most stories about Costco mention them getting around 100 premiums at a time. I'm sorry but if you don't have one yet and you really wanted it, you should have it. Stop whinning! Mine arrives UPS tomorrow, I ordered it back on the original release date from BB online and got put on backorder. All I had to do then was wait patiently, after staying up all night refreshing my browser over and over to start placing my order that first morning online!

i waited in line from 3pm saturday untill 8am sunday for a 360...thats 17 hours!!!!!! i was number 9 in line, now tell me how a person that lives in chicago is number 2 in line an gets their at 5:30 and i live in a small city and i get their at 3 and am number 9 in line... it doent make much sense.
P.S.- dont talk bad about the 14 year olds, not all of them have rich parents and whine all the time. I saved my money for two years and waited 17 hours for one and i will not be called a spoiled whiney baby.

It's a small price to pay for something everybody wants"...some of us wanted one of these things for christmas gifts...some of us have jobs...some of us have lives...some of us dont feel that over $1000 on ebay or 24 hours in below freezing weather is a small price to pay! I guess some of us will just have to wait a few months and i think we can all survive this.

Im back, my gf and i camped out starting at 12:00pm Sat i let her be number one and i was number 2. Everyone was pissed that a girl was first in line. It was awesome. Anyways now i have two premium systems and it rocks. It got really hairy at the end though people were trying to cut and the worst part was that people that were cutting were complaining about people cutting. It was ridiculous. We held our ground and were the first 2. They only had 38 systems.

OK i got mine at store #562 they had 40 systems and i was number 32 i got there at about 7:00 sat. night. Before you got in line you had to go inside and find the list guy that was taking ur name so then after you sign it and u get ur number i got in line. Since my store is in florida it was very warm and the guys next to me brought a soccer ball and we got a huge soccer game goin on in the BB parking lot it was cool and that game lasted a couple of hours and then me and the guys i was next to pulled out the laptop and watched the 1st season of family guy oH n my parnets brought me take out from olive garden and people where ording pizza it was a lot of fun then at about 7:45 the list came out cllaed our names and number to give us our tickets and everybody was cheering and yelling and i walked in when it was my turn and got my premium 360 it was so fun i cant wait to camp out for the ps3 oh and everybody was sharing snacks and passing out their extra sodas n what not. nobody solled their spot or tried to skip it was cool bc we all looked out for each other and played 360 in the store till it closed at 11 well thats my story well worth the wait it was like some kind of cool overnight camp oh and i got the extra 2 year warrenty Just in case!!!! well now all i have to do is wait till xmass moring to play it on the 50' hdtv plamsa sweet and all my friends who are jealous bc i got one are comin over for one hell of a day of gamin well im out peace!!! 360 is the best!!!!

For the person that mentioned that people have lives, he is right. People that waited in line for hours are people that are not true gamers. They are people that are going to make a quick buck on ebay. Hence all the systems sold on ebay. It takes away from the people that really want to play the system. Who in the hell waited for 20 hours in line and think that was a small price to pay. Plus why would you want to wait 20 hours to play a game. Waiting in line for an XBOX couldve gotten you shot in some place.

I also got one and believe I wanted one be4 XMAS but guess how long I waited in line for it. ZERO!!! I went on Best Buy.com at 7:45am yesterday morning and saw the ADD CART, press and ordered it. I got confirmation overnight that the system is on it way. Will be getting it tomorrow!

i slept out a store #436 who was only supposed to get 30 systems according to the allocation numbers. I got there about 9:00 pm only to find out i was #32 and on the door best buy had a sign stating there was only 31 systems 29 pre 2 core. Everyone asked if i wanted to stay since there would only be 31 systems and i was 32, and me a true gamer stayed. To make a long story short i stayed to next morning before open the manager came out a said one per household and there were a dad and two brothers in line thus leaving a system open to lucky ole me #32. After the whole thing I saw the dad still complaing about the 1 per household rule but he had a point it wasn't on any type of sign. But i'm glad i finally got one and can put my games and accessories to use. Happy Hunting!

I've posted here several times on my quest to get one.I went to my first choice at 4:30 pm , I was 4th in line ..I parked my car grabbed my gear and pitched my seat and cooler. I had on my Eagles gear , so I was an instant hit explaining our wretched season. people really started pouring in at around 11:00 pm ...our store got 47 prem and 3 cores. We had food , pizza, hot choc, coffee, soda, music and had quake 4 going on , several running cars incase you needed to warm up , plus we were in and out of the store till they closed.
We messed with people as they stupidly would ask...woulda you doing out here ?
we would say "were homeless" can you help the needy !
we had a legit list made up around midnight, I think the guy who did it, cheated because he got there very late...and claimed he was 33rd (BS)... he was morelike 60th, but he was so vocal and "nice" no one thought anything of it...as he wentalong he just threw his name in infront of this kid who was freezing his &@%&$ off.
At 7:30 am the handed out tickets, and swarms of people left, I'd say 90-100,
why they waited around is beyond me. At 8am shoppers were looking to get in
but they had us go in first walked us thru this maze roped off, by these tables with 360 stuff. I picked up , the charger , extra wireless controller,
extra battery, memory card ,Madden 2006 ,COD 2, PGR 3, NBA 2k6,PDZ and I bought the extended warranty for 49 bucks..just in case...then we proceed on
and behind customer service desk was a neat stack of 360s and to the right was a security gaurd. I had my coupons and reward certs and my checkbook ready,
It was almost surreal..all that I've been thru the weeks after launch trying to get one before the 25th and to finally writing my check for one.
And for those 20 or so people I met that night, I left with great memories,
and to that young couple behind me, good luck gaming together...nice people, I wish my wife could play...and you stood by him all night for 14 hrs , mine was at home in a warm bed. ...all this took place in Va. Beach ,Virginia

Yeah I seen what Walmart had. Don't get me wrong capitalization is fine but if you bought that.....omg. Even worse is Target with their "buy our crappy tv we can't sell with the 360 before christmas sale..only 2,000". In the long run you will wish you waited and if you don't you're in denial.

Well, good luck to all you lucky souls. I pre-ordered mine back in late August at EB Games, Sand City, Calif. I finally got the call on Sunday afternoon. This was their second shipment and they only got 13. At least the kid now will have a Merry Christmas afterall. I contemplated waiting in line back on the initial release after a few failed promises from the EB Game folks and being bumped into the second shipment list. The "only" thing that irks me is that I purchased a $40.00 extended one year warranty from them, upon purchase, only to find out that when I opened the Premium Box, Microsoft offers a 2 year warranty for $59.00 or something to that amount. Looks like i'm heading back to EB Games to see if I can recoup the $40.00 warranty fee.

Anyway, good luck to all those gamers that haven't gotten one. Your time is coming.
