We will start off this week with some juicy new 360 rumors freshly squeezed from the ever-reliable source of semi-reliable information “The Internet”. The game industry has always been full of rumors and speculations, and in contrasts to the movie and music industry where rumors usually are of a more destructive nature, the people working in the game industry have little to fear as the rumors almost always are harmless fantasies made up by overly enthuastic fans. But every now and then rumors are not rumors at all but true reports from people with inside information. If these latest rumors we are reporting today have any truth in them we’ll have to leave up to each one of you to decide for yourselves.
Long story short: Guy from Microsoft meets old friend at wedding - has a few drinks - MS guy tells old friend some company secrets - old friend promises not to tell – old friend is active member in internet gaming forums – secret info is no longer so secret … Rumor 1: Sometime around November 2006, MS is launching a complete
Add Comment Unregistered - asdf 02.06.2006 08:34 I want Baku Baku! OK, so that was a Saturn game, but still... Unregistered - FetalUndertow 02.06.2006 08:35 While it would be great to play Bonk on the Arcade. This is not a Sega property, it's a Hudson Soft. As some may remember it was origanally on NEC's Turbografx system. Great game!!!! Halo3Sniper01 02.06.2006 08:35 Ok nice rumors out there but here's what i think about them: 1.The music and video serice is nice and i think it might happen. 2.WoW coming to 360 would be awsome only if certain things happen a.No monthly cost b. tranfer of accounts 3.Halo 3 at the end of this year would be awsome but i think they will wait till the movie comes out to release the game. 4. Can't say much on this cause i wasn't a real big Dreamcast fan but it would be cool to bring some games into the Arcade. By the way I'm first to add a comment to this YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Halo3Sniper01 02.06.2006 08:36 nm im third took to long to write this comment Unregistered - jonnyb 02.06.2006 08:40 HA HA! Islandkiwi 02.06.2006 08:52 It all seems so plausible....because it is. Maybe not in the specifics, but Halo 3 is coming out, MS will jump into the movie service, and there will be MMORPG's on the 360. I can't see why WoW wouldn't make the jump, especially if set up for 360 users only. Unregistered - pops 02.06.2006 09:06 So does this mean I can stream movies directly to the 360 without a pc? This is very very good news if true and just goes to show how MS is doing everything to innovate and lead the market unlike there competition! Dreamcast by the way had alot of great games that were never recognized and Halo3 in 06 would be nice but I doubt they will be able to exploit the true power of the 360 so early in it's life! Unregistered - emergencyday 02.06.2006 09:23 WOW is really good news! I wonder if Vanguard is coming also since J. Allard talked pretty highly of it 2 years ago at e3! Unregistered - oim 02.06.2006 11:39 First things first however .. if they want to have downloadable movies, movies, bigger sized games from the DC ..... they best be puttin' out a BIGGER FRIGGEN HARD DRIVE SOON !!! Vivicious 02.06.2006 11:58 IF WoW actually comes to X360, there is a chance of 0,00001% that you wouldn't have to pay for it. Trust me, you will, and I'm sure it would be huge. Wonder if it will really happen though... Unregistered - asdf 02.06.2006 12:08 But isn't the monthly fee ostensibly to cover costs of servers etc.? Would it be running on special WoW servers, or off of Xbox Live? It would be hard to justify monthly fees if they were using Xbox Live already... Unregistered - Puy 02.06.2006 12:09 ^^ I agree. I have no issue paying for LIVE, but I will for sure NOT pay for both. If they take that approach, I think it may fall flat. Unregistered - GioneBurnZ 02.06.2006 12:33 First off, I think that FFXI you have to pay an online fee because its running on the PlayOnline servers, and for this reaspon, you do not have to pay for XBOX LIVE service to play this game online. Secondly, if Dreamcast games come out for the 360 I will be EXTREMELY happy. For those who never really played DC, it is THE consoled that DEFINED the word FUN. It was HANDS-DOWN the most enjoyable console since the SNES and would greatly raise the value of the XBOX and give it a HUGE lead over competitors (Nice strategy aginst the Revolution being backwards compatible with NES, SNES and N64) If Sega published their games on Arcade, all I can say is.....WOW. As much as I am an ENORMOUS FAN of Halo, the dreamcast coming to the 360 is, in my opinion, WAY bigger news. I hope this is not a rumour.3 Blue Balls? visit www.enterthelounge.com Cheers! Unregistered - ProMinx 02.06.2006 12:35 MMOs on consoles always require a fee, and if you read your user agreement (or even the Silver v. Gold comparison on xbox.com), you would see there was specific mention that one of silver's benefits was that it would allow access to MMO game servers that would charge an additional fee. Basically...you don't have to pay for both xbox live and the MMO...because you can play the MMO without paying for a gold package. But I'm glad that the dreamcast games are coming to arcade. I need more arcade games for when i'm bored. Unregistered - hardwood2001 02.06.2006 13:15 if wow comes out for the 360 than my life is going to be over... can't wait! Unregistered - John 02.06.2006 13:34 What forum was this started in? Unregistered - Mike 02.06.2006 13:47 Would love for this stuff to be reality but I'm a pessimistic one. Dreamcast games on the arcade would be awesome but at a cost of 10 bucks maybe alil unreal, unless they leave em as is I guess. Would be nice with added Live functionality, like with the Powerstone series as such. WoW will have an added monthly fee, managing and maintaining servers I'm sure costs alot of money and would only drive PC gamers to the 360 if they didnt have to pay 13 or so bucks a month as to 50 yearly. But nice to hear 360 specific servers. Still its all just rumors, might as well say Halo 3 is finished in development and are just waiting for mass production... Unregistered - john smith 02.06.2006 14:06 dc games? i hope they bring mvc2, powerstone2, cvs2 all with spectator and 6 player modes Unregistered - unregistered 02.06.2006 15:12 Has anyone else thought that halo 3 won't be the one to "use the power of the system" and maybe it will be halo 4 that does instead? Just like halo 2 did more than halo 1 as far as system power usage. Unregistered - Rems 02.06.2006 15:16 DC games on the 360 ??? HELL YA !!! That would be KILLER IMHO. WOW, the DC was so under-rated and live far to short of a life span. My DC was a pleasure to have. What would be even killer is to have the DC games on Marketplace and be able to use the 360's Anti-Alias power much like with the backward list. And $10 a game is no to much .... cheap bastards !! :-) Unregistered - jezz 02.06.2006 15:41 All my birthdays & christmases have come at once! Chu-Chu rocket, f355 Challenge, Samba de Amigo on Xbox Live. These are what online gaming was made for! What M$ could do is to put a DC emulator on Live - I knew i kept those old DC games for a reason Unregistered - xCAPTSTONERB91x 02.06.2006 15:57 q4 2006 right............i bet theyl schedule it for summer 07 and itl end up getting delayed somehow til like fall 07 Unregistered - Smartness 02.06.2006 16:05 I always wanted to play warcraft and other MMO's but because my computer isn't a great PC to play games on i wouldn't mind saving some thousands on upgrades and getting the console version Unregistered - Jim 02.06.2006 16:53 This is great. I loved WoW on the pc so to put it on the 360 is going to be great. However, there are a few questions that you need to ask yourself. First of all r they going to transfer accounts. I dont think so because it is a totally seperate server plus that would give an unfair advantage to anyone who did not play the first one. Secondly, how r they going to configure the controls. There were so many hotkeys and mods to make it easier on the pc that it seems it would be difficult to apply it all to the 360 controller. Third, I wonder what they r going to do about all the issues they had with WoW for the pc. If you played it enough you know what I mean. So many different issues. Just a few thoughts for everyone to think about. Unregistered - JD 02.06.2006 16:55 Perhaps Microsoft will cut a deal with Blizzard, so that the users don't have to pay a monthly fee...just the $60+ for the game. It is a console war... Unregistered - NICE 02.06.2006 17:58 Ok this would be the greatest to have WoW on the 360! Unless you had to pay, but most likely you wouldnt, just for live! I bet thousands would come to the 360, what werent devoted to the 360. If this happened, say goodbye to ps3 Unregistered - LOL 02.06.2006 18:19 Dreamcast games for XLA? Wow I didn't know most DC games are under 50MBs, because that is the requirement. I wouldn't mind Daytona USA and Sega Rally. Anyway, WOW on 360? It's possible. but you'll still have that higher than Live monthly payment that people don't seem to have a problem with. And definetly need a 100GB HD. Unregistered - Jared 02.06.2006 20:02 I suppose Dreamcast games coming out on 360 is slightly plausible. For example, that online gaming service, I forget the name, has one or two Dreamcast games. The big issue with having Dreamcast games over Live Arcade is the fact that Dreamcast games were 1.5gb. Microsoft better get on bigger harddrives, or find some way to stream the games pretty well. Using compression methods, Dreamcast software pirates were able to get all game images in the 700mb range for burning, but, I don't think that much compression would be acceptable in an Xbox Live situation since the games are being paid for. Not to mention the Dreamcast had plenty of online functionality, it would go hand in hand with the 360. Emulating the DC would be a problem though. But, the Gamecube did emulate the Nintendo 64 on the two Zelda discs that featured the older games that were released as promos. Unregistered - jay 02.07.2006 00:59 I highly doubt that sega will put games on Xbox live, for the one fact that they are already in talks with Nintendo about putting them on the Revolution. Granted I'm not sure if they will include DC games or not, but most if not all of the classic games will probably be there. http://www.joystiq.com/2005/12/20/sega-intrigued-by-revolution-backwards-compatibility/ Just look at the news...it's from dec 05. It's not set in stone by anymeans, and Sega could jump ship and goto Xbox live, but they have more respest and a better relationship with Nintendo then MS or Sony. Unregistered - Styla 02.07.2006 07:29 I've been playin FFXI online, and its fine with the 360 controller. ALSO dont forget if u have a usb keyboard/mouse, they work ;) Styla Unregistered - Ace_McFly 02.07.2006 07:53 Hahaha - thanks for makling me laugh guys.. WOW on Xbox "360" - its hilarious! I cant imagine the crappy machine will be able to handle the complexities of the game... and as for your average console player - they probably wouldn't even be able to find their way outta Elwynn Forest or Tirisfal Glades!! I'm still chuckling now!! xD Unregistered - Sticky Gecko 02.07.2006 08:26 ^^ 'crappy little machine'? How about you run away and grow up a little, maybe grow some pubic hair? All these rumours are great, and im sure not all will be true. However, even if they were made up totally, still might happen, im sure someone from MS has read them and been given some good ideas! Unregistered - 32 02.07.2006 09:28 You want to talk crap? lets talk about the machine that doesn't exist and the one that Sony can't figure out how to put it together. NOW THAT SIR IS CRAP! Unregistered - Styla 02.07.2006 09:29 Haha you fool, the 360 is more power than YOUR PC. And dont try and ignore that fact, because you know its true. Oh, and guess what, you'll have to spend about £300/£400 to get your PC to the 360's standard, that is, when you can. Styla Unregistered - Ace_McFly 02.07.2006 11:14 *chuckle* To say the 360 is more powerful than a PC is a BIG mistake... the machine just wouldnt have the power to handle all of those calculations... and how big is the hard drive... 50 gig? *smirk* The only thing you'll be getting from WOW is maybe a cut-down "lite" version... or maybe just the graphics and concept... certainly not the engine and deep complexities. Console games have never been as complex and intricate as PC games... for 2 reasons... neither the machines nor the players have the brainpower. Unregistered - HA 02.07.2006 12:03 What "calculations" exactly are your trying to say that the 360 cant handle?..Please..I'm really interested to hear this. Unregistered - Mitz 02.07.2006 13:24 #36 Are you serious?? Do you really believe the crap you are saying about the 360 not being able to hand what todays best PC's can??? OMFG, have you been under a rock for the past few months ??? The stupid sh*t you're saying is only making you look worse. PLEASE STOP, your making all of us WoW players look bad. What is your real name?? Let me guess Leroooooooooyyyyyyyyyyy Jenkins !!!!! Seams like something he would say. Unregistered - videogamer 02.07.2006 13:50 Correct!!! Without a doubt the Xbox 360 is the most powerful gaming machine on the planet, including any pc, and yes the so called ps3, I say ps3 because as we speek there still is no ps3, only talk and a empty shell console!! To say the Xbox 360 is anything less means one thing, your a wanna be ps3 boy with nothing else to do b/c there still is no ps3, hahahahahaha!! Go on lil boy, go play ratchet and clank!!! MerlinZero 02.07.2006 15:28 Holy crap, wow, has this lost its original purpose or what. OK first off WoW would be awesome on the 360, especially since its not a very demanding program (graphically) the damn thing is a friggin HD hog though. so yeah some more hard drive space would be happy happy in that sense, but i mean the 360 has more then enough processing and graphical power to run the game. and for the DC news..... DAMN would i love to play Virtua Fighter on the marketplace, especially if it was live compatible, being able to play that like i do DoA4 would be excellent. um as for like a NetFlix-Direct type setup, that would be cool.... but i dont own an HDTV so :P Unregistered - Jon 02.07.2006 16:17 To say this, reading quite a while ago that the 360 is more powerful than about 95% of PC's. To say about DC games. VERY POSSIBLE. To say that it will ONLY be on XLive is not quite. It could be on Live and the Revolution. Remember, Sega does not belong to one company or any relationships. Unregistered - Some canadian 02.07.2006 16:37 hey you guys are poeple Unregistered - not canadian 02.07.2006 17:58 hey you're canadian Unregistered - Akakage 02.07.2006 20:33 I'm not one to blindly believe rumors so while I still question the creditbility of this rumor it's potentially possible. WoW on xbox live...fantastic idea..I hope it happens..nuff said. The big one for me is DREAMCAST GAMES ON live arcade. While I still have my dreamcast and alot of games for it...there are few that I may have missed. This could be so amazing..hopefully the do Saturn and Genesis games as well. That would be so amazing. Peter Moore former sega pres. could pull something like this off...I hope..please. This could be so amazing..hopefully that rumor is true. Unregistered - bob 02.07.2006 20:38 dreamcast wasn't good and these are just rumors, dont get so hyped Unregistered - Eugene Wiebe 02.07.2006 20:49 yeah I like baku baku and bug juice and whats up with no more marvel vs. capcom game man we need more of thoes they were fun Unregistered - jules 02.07.2006 22:24 dreamcast wasnt good...it was great.... Mighty Boom 02.07.2006 22:34 I cant wait for the revolution!!!!! I can relive part of my child hood through the myriad of great games!!!! Just think, Mario 1-2-3, Karnov, all the Zeldas, ect. Its going to be great... Oh yea, I love my 360 too. Unregistered - ice cold 02.08.2006 02:39 This is just exciting If this is true than christmas is here again Unregistered - Ace_McFly 02.08.2006 06:46 You can get all of these Dreamcast games on PC... for free... just go onto the Internet and download an emulater... easy! Also - wow is just too coplex for a console... too much information and too much PROCESSING POWER needed for a console to handle. XBOX graphics may be good (though not as good as PC) but it sure wont have the pure brainpower, Mhz and architechure that a PC CPU does... also the PC will out-RAM the XBOX... and thats big as far as games performance is concerned. Sorry guys - I'm sure you'd like WOW on your console but all you're gonna get is a cut-down version at most. Now build a bridge... AND GET OVER IT ALREADY!! Hahaha. Unregistered - hardwood2001 02.08.2006 07:27 i think wow is coming out for the 360 in june, according to the rumor of course. Unregistered - GEV1L 02.08.2006 07:59 Actually the only thing that would hold WOW back on x360 is the size of the hdd. The processor is more than capable, as is the ram, graphics card and chipset. As with FFXI, the will obviously be mouse/keyboard support for this game. Remember x360 doesnt have to contend with running an OS like XP(which has numerous faults that can affect performance)Saying that the xbox360 will geta cut rate version is pretty dumb as I know people who play WOW on a crappy pc(by todays standards, vs. friends who play it on high end pcs and other than graphics the experiance is still the same. And we definately know who has the upper hand in the graphics department(closed end system vs having to run on anything from a geforce 5200 to a x19000xtx, while the pc will eventually have the better graphics, the x360 has the upper hand as it is a monster of a graphics card and a closed end system) So if anything they might have to make it so that most of everything is stored on their servers to address the problem of lack of hdd space, and just use the hdd for streaming data.Architecture-wise the cpu is triple-core and dual threaded on each core so it is most definately more than capable. MGHZ means nothing because if it did, than AMd would have been destroyed by intel a long time ago. Also since the x360 has 512mmb if extremely fast ram(coupled by the fact that it does not have to carry the burden of a large cumbersome OS in said ram) it is way more than sufficient to play this game. Also since pc only run at around 50-75% efficiency when playing games, and a console is designed to run at 95% effiency the spec of the x360(or even the ps3) are more than enough to have blizzard provide the complete WOW experiance on a console. Unregistered - ejab 02.08.2006 08:13 First of all you can run WOW with highest settings with 1.8ghz intel with a 256bit nvidia geforce fx5700LE, its not that hard to run, the graphics for wow are pretty crappy, especially for pc standards. About the 360 not having enough processing power, The 360 has three cores with 6 threads in them all running at 3.2GHZ, you dont even need a dual threaded processor to run WOW at max settings, the only thing is the hard-drive, WOW would take up alot of space on the 20GB and the less space you have on the drive the harder it is to stream information. Unregistered - hardwood2001 02.08.2006 11:13 i think wow is coming out for the 360 in june, according to the rumor of course. LAGIZZTIC 02.08.2006 11:26 So they put it on two or three disks so what it's WOW! Unregistered - Paul S 02.08.2006 20:30 The sooner the better for the release of Halo 3. With the rumors of Halo 3 being done, it wouldn't be good to sit on it too long. Like say for a year... for the movie. By then its code will be outdated. H3 should be released now so they can hype up H4 for the movie. If there will be an H4... Unregistered - J 02.09.2006 13:31 Comments 52 and 53 are right on. The 360 is more than capable of handeling WoW. I can not wait!!!! Unregistered - Sidherich 02.09.2006 16:32 WoW is definetely playable on XBOX 360. But you would have to pay a monthly fee for it. You just dont pay for the actual server you play on but also for those regular updates you get with new weapons, quest, regions etc. As for Dreamcast games: Hell yeah. Would be awesome if that would be true. I would love to see Ooga Booga on XBLA :) Unregistered - adam 02.09.2006 19:42 I heard that if you lick the dvd tray on the xbox 360 you get really high Unregistered - . 02.09.2006 20:18 If any of you really liked WoW, try Guild Wars. TONS better Unregistered - HeMan 02.10.2006 14:38 And if you like guild wars or Wow, you should really try a girl. TONS better. Unregistered - . 02.11.2006 15:42 That was really clever. Dude, have you ever even been with a girl? Your probably nothing more than a 13 year old. Unregistered - JOHNPLAYER 02.23.2006 01:44 JUST A COMMENT ON SEGA I USED TO LOVE SEGA MEGADRIVE AND PLAYED TO DEATH SEGA RALLY / VIRTUA IN THE ARCADES BUT LATELY SEGA HAVE GONE TO THE DOGS, OK SONIC LOOKS GOOD ON 360 BUT IM SLIGHTLY OLDER KNOW BRINGING BACK SOME OLD GAMES IS THIS WHAT SEGA IS REDUCED TO Unregistered - lk 03.06.2006 03:24 I'd like to play PowerStone2 and Virtual-ON!!! Unregistered - crazyiness 03.08.2006 17:35 Sega can DO this. I pray everyday for Daytona USA to arrive on 360 and IT will be the best arcade racer EVER on any console. 12 years on and there is still no equal for the original Daytona. Unregistered - Viewtiful Joe 03.19.2006 14:30 Everyones getting so uppy! :P I'd love the DreamCast rumour to be true, the DC was a fine piece of hardware... and WoW, EASILY possible, it'd programmed specifically for the console and there for easily possible, like FFXI... Remeber though, these are RUMOURS! take them with a pinch of Salt! :D Unregistered - Ray 06.26.2006 11:43 Hmm first off to all the people who say that top end pcs are more powerful than the 360 should go and actually check the actual harware specifications of the 360 before coming out with such drivel. Granted, Pcs evolve, consoles really dont but for NOW 360 is more powerful (processor and speed wise) than ANY and i mean ANY home based pc. Secondly forget about halo 4 cos there wont be one. Bungie have already clearly stated that the third is the final one in the trilogy. Dont you guys ever READ the info posted at bungie???? Of course this isnt to say they wont change their mind lol but for now its the last. Add Comment |
