According to a ATI employee the Xbox 360 will be much more powerful than even their upcoming R5XX series of graphic cards, and that their PC cards will not match the Xbox 360 on power until their next generation of graphic cards scheduled for next year. However, this was not an official statement but rather a comment from the guy who was in charge of the ATI demo stand at the Siggraph 2005 show. The 720P resolution Rubi demo was running on the latest XB360 developer kit and rendering characters with up to 120,000 polygons at blazing speed. At its peek the demo was pushing one million polygons. He commented further that one should focus on the power of rendering when it comes to the XB360 and that today even the most powerful gaming PC cannot match its rendering power.Source : theINQUIRER.net   Add Comment  1 -

Get a few of them and and you got a very cheap multiroom AV system. And who is going to wait 6/7months for PS3, let alone not be able to play games like Halo and DOOM. If I recall correctly the Dreamcast rendered a million polygons per second, and now we're up to a million polygons per frame, and like 60 frames per second? And a lot of you other commenters seem to know squat about what you're talking about. PS3 does have a chance. It's chance is a combination of ignorance and limited understanding. The totally ignorant people just think "Hey, I have a Playstation, might as well get PS3." The limited understanding people think "o ya cell has 2 terorflops u no wut dat meens u shuld no wat dat meens". Because those two kinds of people make up around 80% of PS2 fans, a lot of the people that bought the PS2 will get PS3 just so they're not out of date. All the best features in the world won't sell the Xbox 360 well if nobody knows that it's better, and getting the information to people that never do any research on their consoles is near-impossible. If they don't care enough to research, putting all the features on TV, people won't pay attention because they don't care about tech bullshit, but still want to know which is better. Xenos's strengths and Cells weaknesses are hard to explain, so when someone even tries to explain it, it can't come out right. But people trust that Sony's console is actually twice as good based on a teraflops. They don't have to know what it means to know that it's better. PS3 stands a chance against anything Microsoft can throw at them unless Gates has a connection who can fire nuke-tipped ICBMs. 16 -
