2K Games and Bethesda Softworks announced today that the highly-anticipated role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is now available for the Xbox 360 and PC in stores across North America and will be available at stores in Europe on March 24th.

The long-awaited Oblivion represents the quintessential role-playing experience for the next-generation of gaming, inviting gamers into the sprawling environments of Tamriel, the most vibrant game-world ever created. With a powerful combination of freeform gameplay and lush, unprecedented graphics, gamers can choose to unravel Oblivion's epic narrative or simply explore the vast landscape in search of their own unique challenges.

Oblivion's story begins with the mysterious assassination of Emperor Uriel Septim VII, leaving the kingdom's throne dangerously vacant. With the Empire ready to crumble, the gates of Oblivion are thrust open, scattering demons and other hellish creatures across the countryside. To turn the tide, gamers must journey to find the Emperor's lost heir and defeat the plot that threatens to destroy all of Tamriel.

"Oblivion is an engrossing and unique role-playing experience with incredibly deep gameplay," said Christoph Hartmann, Managing Director of 2K Games. "Gamers will be amazed when they see the revolutionary features that have made Oblivion one of the most anticipated titles of 2006."

Oblivion promises to be the defining RPG for the next generation, combining landmark visuals, a sprawling, sandbox universe with more than 200 hours of gameplay, intense first-person combat and realistic characters driven by the groundbreaking Radiant AI.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is available for both the PC and Xbox 360 in regular and collector's editions. The collector's edition includes a 112-page Pocket Guide to the Empire, detailing every aspect of the world of Tamriel, as well as an extensive "Making of Oblivion" documentary and an authentic replication of the Septim Gold Coin, the official currency of Tamriel. PC gamers will also be able to bend the world of Tamriel to their will with the extensive Elder Scrolls Construction Set.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for Xbox 360 and PC, co-published by 2K Games and Bethesda Softworks, has been rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB.

If you're even questioning buying it, check this out. The feeling of this game is so overwhelming sometimes. Yesterday I stole a horse and took off. I was riding on a path while my roomate was watching me and he said, "go off into the woods and see how far you can go" so i did. I was galloping along and came to a sort of little cliff, my roomate was like, Ha, you're stuck, but i wasn't, the horse actually jumped off the edge and i kept riding down a ravine. It was awesome. I was riding for some time, the scale of Oblivion is indescribable. As I rode up another hill and got to the peak I saw a deer down the backside of the hill. It didn't see me yet so i got off the horse and drew my bow and arrow and shot at it but missed, well the deer took and so i hopped back on my horse and chased it. All of a sudden, as i got closer to the deer a wolf attacked me. So i got off my horse, cuz you can't swing your sword from the horse (kinda lame) but oh well, so i started swinging at the wolf when all of a sudden my horse reared up and trampled the wolf. Not a huge adventure but truly spontaneous and ridiculously fun. GO BUY THIS GAME.

I love this game also I played all night last night BUT.. Beware of some unrecoverable "catch" spots, the jumping is kind of touchy and you cannot jump at all sometimes to get out of catch spots in the environment. The first one coming to mind is immediately to the right of the entrance game to Oblivion about 2 hours into the game... on the right behind the gate in obliuvion. Otherwise... AMAZING... I was smacking those little freaking Oblivion guys all night and got to level 3... No big deal but it was actually FUN to level, and I rode the horse in the paddock because I didnt want to steal it. Looking from the tops of towers over the land area is outstanding, the movement is never a hinderance. I notice when i am changing from third to first person to battle I do alot of mashing the "sneak" joystick button to but that is more me that anything else. I still have no idea what the Left Shoulder "GRAB" button does. But these are all small small gripes. Oblivion is great and #3 stories are totally spot on. . I am thinking of starting up a character who is the worse thief ever and stealing stuff and hell raising and see what happens. the system to raise peoples perception of you with the JOKE, COERCE, BOASt.. etc etc is great. The funny thing is I am trying to get the guy out of the church in the first city (generalizing not to ruin the story) I have cleared the outside city and they will not all leave (the easy way to leave) but I did attack the guy and they all followed me out and through the oblivion gate and the guards killed them all LOL... it was funny as hell and so i reloaded since i "think" I ruined the storyline killing the people inadvertantly. Great game. Sorry for the long read.

11 - No soft shadows for xbox360 =(
Unregistered - jojobeans 03.22.2006 12:46
Only thing I didnt like about Oblivion is there is no soft shadows in the 360 version compare to the demonstration videos for the PC. BUT STILL AMAZING HAVE TO BUY GAME. I FREAKIN LOVE IT!

12 - 5 reasons #8 comes onto the 360 site
Unregistered - famo 03.22.2006 13:16
1. He likes to be raped by the 360
2. He is scared like Sony that the 360 is superior to the pos3
3. He likes to be owned
4. Likes to read good news about a console that exists and bash it to feel better about the pos3
5. He is secrety coming out of the closet and wants us all to know he is by telling us he's a pos3 fanboy...

Anyone want to add to my list?

13 - Quick questions
Unregistered - Braaaaiiiinnsss 03.22.2006 13:35
So is there a weather system in game? And when your killing things is there blood and other effects?

14 -
Lucid360 03.22.2006 13:39
Blood splatters - yes, weather effects - YES, Torch shadows and volumetric lighting effects - YES... I have no idea what SOFT shadows are but when you light a torch there is a lighting and shadow differnce and environmental light will change as you get closer to the redened sky Oblivion gate areas... Mountains in the clouds have a shorter draw distance and foggy effect... Clear days you can see forever.. #8... I am above talking to idiot PS3 waiters. Keep waiting eventually SOny will give you SOMETHING to play... WIll it be as promised... doubtful... will you pay $800 for it (double a 360) yes... blind sheep are the first to walk off a cliff. I hope you enjoy your PS3.

Lucid360 03.22.2006 13:41
oh sorry ... also Oblivion is not a FPS ... It is a RPG. Just to point that out for you.

16 -
Lucid360 03.22.2006 13:51
I have the collectors edition and the booklet is well worth the $10... I never buy the CEs for just a crap making of DVD. The coin is pretty cool too but basically filler. the book is a history of the story so far and a breakdown of the geographic areas of Oblivion with alot of background stuff and story. Good for reading on toilet and smoke breaks, as well as for some of the longer load times (and so far the loads have not been agonizingly long for me) look for the bethesda posted work around if loads get too lengthy (clearing the HDD cache for the game by pressing I think it is A byutton as the logos come up when it starts... see the post here on xb360news) and consider dropping things into boxes and not all over the ground as I believe oblivion saves the locations for all that stuff like Morrowind did leading to massive savegames.

17 - really cool
Islandkiwi 03.22.2006 14:04
I got this game yesterday, and love it. I didn't really decide how I was going to play my character, so I'm suprised how my character has turned out. Right now I'm enjoying sneaking through the forests and shooting with the bow/arrow. Not normally my gaming style, I like swords.

It's the atmosphere that gets you. Walk around in a dungeon without a torch, and it's spooky. Light one up, and you realize you're a beacon for all the monsters to converge on. At the same time, the monsters come at you fast. I was not prepared for how quick and frantic the attackers come at you.

Anyway, no doubt I'll be spending a lot of time with this game.

18 - Soft Shadows
Unregistered - jojobeans 03.22.2006 14:07
"Soft shadows" are the detailed shadows of small objects such as grass, leaves, fingers etc. If you look at the demonstration video 1 on gametrailers.com he talks about how the shadows are casted on the walls and around when he picks up the skeleton rib cage on the ground, soft shadows are also seen when he moves the hanging chains, this is not in the xbox360 version =( but its still an amazing must buy game.

19 - amazing
remoteXimpaler 03.22.2006 14:07
this game is so much fun. i love it!!
i hate how people will complain that the draw distance isnt the BEST, the graphics arent the BEST (but they certainly are MY favorite and the best so far).
who really cares about most of that?

the game is just down right fun, enjoyable, and a BLAST to play

i mean, isnt that the reason why we buy games? to have a good time?

this and GRAW are the reasons why i got my 360

21 - Soft shadows
Unregistered - Xgamer 03.22.2006 15:00
Yes, soft shadows are all over the XBOX 30 version and much more then the pc version. Remember the pc's are now finally inferior to the XBOX 360 in everyway. If you saw a pc version that was more detailed or shadowed than the 360 version then there was a screw up on which version you really saw, must of had them reversed or something.
Fantastic game!!! 9.4 out of 10

22 -
Lucid360 03.22.2006 15:18
Hmmm I might have to disagree... RIGHT NOW... XBOX 360 has some things which are superior to the PC's (tricore CPU), (Massive data pipeline), but a new AM2 system or Dual Xenons with SLI'ed top of the line nvidias with 512 MB of VRAM will keep up with it. That is a 3.0 Ghz Machine with 2 cores and up to 2 GB of very fast DDR2, and 1 GB of VRAM and the same generation of video GPU that the XB360 has. But itll cost you about 4-5 tims what the 360 does. And about softshadows. I was thinking that the XB360 version had it in there too but all i know is if we bicker about soft shadows... I think the fact that the grass blades and bones laying on the ground dont cast shadows is a small price to pay for a $500 console versus a $2000-5000 PC. I also love how when you drop a helmet on a hill it will roll down it or if you walk over it it will get kicked across the screen... Noticed that in the sewers when i hit a bone and it kicked across the tunnel... I wish the legs were visable though so i could see my legs... The underwater to swimming is great too the way it looks pretty realistic with the recraction and colors from the sky bleed into the waters murkiness... Man I can talk for hours about the 7 hours I played it for last night... The devil is always in the details. I notice the details alot in Oblivion.

23 - sorry but your wrong, there are NO soft shadows
Unregistered - jojobeans 03.22.2006 15:18
If you dont believe me, gametrailers.com Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Demonstration 1 video. I tried the exact same thing in the demonstration, you start in the prison cell, I picked up the ribcage, and there is no shadowcasting from the object at all, or the hanging changes, there were no shadows casting off of those objects just like in the demonstration, ALSO in the demonstration it was the pc version, because their was a mouse scroll on the menu. Dont believe me check it out. There are no soft shadows in this game.

Damn I am a double post bandit... sorry xb360news. But there is no recent posts preview to see recent posts in a reply. The draw distance is not the best at times ON PURPOSE. On a clear day on a tower top in game you can see for a LONNNGGGG way. Is it as good as say Dark and Light on the PC... NO but Morrowind had a REAL BIG problem with draw distance. Of course when you stand on a mountaintop in almost everything out now you will see the draw distance fog at some point. But it compensates by having it be foggy in the distance not all over. I think the draw distance is acceptibly good in Oblivion. I can see why it might not be stand on a desert mesa and see forever but it isnt game hinderly bad like it was in morrowind where you could climb a hill and not see the town below you. ANd I HAVE a PC that will run everything will.. My 3dmark, and Aquamark scores are high enough that Morrowind is not a challenge for it to draw and run without a problem. But I see where it might bnother people who may have seen the draw distances in something like Dark and Light that they draw literally forever into the distance.

Amazing game. I've been playing as an assassin wood elf. It's fun just to explore the world, graphics are incredible in HD.

This has the potential to appeal to the mainstream and not just the RPG crowd. Who doesn't like exploring creepy dungeons and throwing fireballs?

29 - #26 Radiant A.I.
assjacket 03.22.2006 16:16
A couple of examples of the A.I. that I have seen are: Once fighting a troll in a dungeon and was kicking his butt until all of a sudden he turned and ran. I followed him into a room where he dropped his short sword and picked up a battle axe, then ran at me swinging!
Another example: I was trying to kill someone in the dark of night and in the privacy of their home, so that the assasins guild would get in touch with me. Well it wasn't as easy as I hoped. First off, I snuck into one house, got upstairs, and I find my victim awake and standing in the middle of the room. Just as I'm about to introduce them to my sword he vanishes! I thought it was a game glitch until I walked downstairs and onto the street only to find the same person suddenlly reappear and run to a local guard. (apparently they had heard me in their house and took an invisibility potion!)
Another time trying to do the same thing: I found a girl sleeping so I thought I would shoot her in the chest with an arrow...oops! She woke up screaming like hell and next thing I knew I was running from the local cops!

30 - AI answers...
Lucid360 03.22.2006 16:17
The monster AI is still hmmm easy to exploit... I am in Oblivion Plane and the little guys who toss fireballs at you will tos 4-5 into a rock with 2 of them and 1 will peel away and you can handle them 1 on 1 easy at level 2... They like to toss the fireballs at the ground too... so you can use terrain and dodging like going left whatch them cast then jump right or jump over the fireballs. As for the NPC character AI... it is cool like you will goto sleep and wake up and they will all be sleeping so if you need to talk to them then you wake them up. Other than that I have been in Oblivion alot and not around the people as much. The town guards are cool to watch though they move around... when enemies come into their area they beat them senseless and then resume their post. they self heal and attack on sight. the guard i had with me in oblivion would run into walls instead of around and up the hill to attack the monster so they will get stuck untill you lure the monster a bit into a open path.. But that is only in the first 5-6 hours of play I am not high level but i have been trying to pay attention to stuff like this and see what its like I might spend all night tonight as a assassin and find a good perch and watch the city... try to judge the length of a day in real time. Anyone interested in experimenting with Oblivion on the 360 and maybe doing some kind of interaction amongst players let me know and I will see what the responce is like and I can get gametags and we can message and chat in XBL.

32 - AI
asdf 03.22.2006 16:38
I saw a dude sneaking around, and I followed him as he walked up to someone and tried to pick the guy's pocket. He ran away, and right into a guard, who, with the help of the victim of the pickpocketing, proceeded to slaughter the thief. It was totally cool.

Also re: reviews: If they were trying to hide the ENDING of the game, don't you think they'd just hope that reviewers would try to compete to have the first review out and not try to play it through? I'm far from done, but I feel like I know enough about it to give it a review, and I'm certain that there is some pressure to have the first review out. If anything, this gives reviewers the chance to reach the end of the game before making any final judgements about it.

33 - Awesome!
Majunior 03.22.2006 16:50
This game is very awesome but one thing i didnt like is how often it loads when you are walking or riding a horse outside. It can be annoying sometimes because it lags when it loads. But its not that big i guess. Its a awesome game! Definetly worth the money.

Am I wrong or does the Playstation have it own handful of FPS!?? Black, Timesplitters, Killzone, Call of Duty, Medal of Honour, Pariha, Ghost Recon series (including Advanced Warfighter!).

Most of the FPS are third-party titles that appear on all platforms. The only original one that hasn't appeared on the PS is Halo and PDZ!

I'm sure you'll see Farcry, Bioshock, Prey all on the PS3, so go suck a c0ck you fuc*ing idiot!

37 -
Vivicious 03.22.2006 20:31
To the person talking about soft shadows, it's not available in either version. They had to take it out a few months ago for both platforms, as it used to be on every object and that just isn't possible at the moment. Characters and the like still have it however.

So in that aspect, there is no difference between the PC and X360 version. Also, it's not soft shadows you're talking about, I just thought I'd call it that so as not to confuse you. ;-)

I'm not sure if I will buy this...I think I'll rent it...of course I ALWAYS say I will rent the games and i've already bought 6, same amount I had for original XBOX in one year of owning it...but I have to say, I think every game that's been out so far has been very good quality and I think have been good in their own way, the only game I haven't played or demoed is PDZ...but back to Oblivion it looks amazing on video...I'm sad the shadows are gone, that sucks...that was one of the things that amazed me when I saw the video...lol and to the guy who said "It's the PC version, their was a mouse"...um it's because the game was in development lol of course their was a mouse...so happy to hear that this game lives up to the hype tho...the better the system and games become... the more game developer support it will get, so hurrah to the 360! Oh and try Burnout revenge, that games a kick...and blazing angels is fun too although the sky is the only next gen looking thing in the game, PEACE!

41 - BEST GAME SO FAR!!!! Vast World and Vampires too!!!
Unregistered - Wlad 03.23.2006 10:27
I bought Oblivion the same date it came out, fifteen minutes after the store opened. I got home and enjoyed my sweet time opening the Collector's Edition box and seeing all the goodies (I usually don't buy CE but I thought this would be worth it, and it was) I finally decided to put the game in and WOW, the beginning catches your attention with its theme song and promising features. As the game begins, the introduction is even better. As for gameplay, I was astonished to see so much freedom. I have stolen horses, joined the mysterious Thieves Guild that people in towns say "does not exist", I have slained skeletons and I have even read about the rumor of turning into a VAMPIRE!! I even did a little swimming and wished I would've chosen the species that can breath under water. But so far, I have loved this game for the 360. I USUALLY enjoy Live over anything else because I love playing against other humans but this game totally is totally awesome.

I spent 5 hours last sneaking around in the Sideways Cave with a new thief-caster class i made last night. This game is greatness. Do yourself a favor and if you haven't make Sideways cave your first stop after the ROyal Prison sewers... It's right South of the exit and it is an outstanding ncave.. Might not take you 5 hours (I like to look around and sneak slowly and kill from afar.) But it is an interesting story and the execution is excellent. Then i said screw this Im going to town and I got my brains bashed in in the arena and caught trying to steal from the bet taker outside of it... HAHAHAHA

Lucid360 03.23.2006 11:31
Maybe it isnt but the thing you can run into in Elder Scrolls is it does not push you along a linear storyline like FInal Fantasy does... It says at the beginning here is your destiny in the storyline of the game... BUT YOU HAVE THE CHOICE to do that or go out and be a thief, be a vampire, be a arena gladiator, hunter, run and explore, craft and sell, own a store, own a house. It is basically a MMO for one. The openness can be daunting to some people. I personally find it refreshing when a game is created that is so detailed that it allows me to exist in a world that is going on, in the game and do whatever i think that characters destiny should be. If I want to be a criminal i can be it, if I wan to the the hero and save the world... That is how the storyline goes I can do it. No pushing me to the next thing i have to do to accomplish to finish the game and move on to the next game that is released.

I think its cool that you can pick up just about everything in the game. But has anyone found a use for this? I have over 100 things in my inventory (cups, plates, parchements, pickaxes, quills, hourglasses) what the heck are they for, or is it just a freedom thing to grab whatever you want?
But anyways this game is amazing, I'm not a huge RPG guy, but the freedom and feeling of total control of your character is awesome.
Don't think about it, just get this game.

#47

Just make a custom class, with conjuration to do summons and typical warrior-type stuff (blade/blunt, block, armorer, etc.). About the race, I dunno, it depends on whether you'd rather focus on fighting or conjuring. For conjuring, Bretons are the best, but if you want to be more of a fighter, I'd be an imperial, who aren't quite the best fighters, but have the benefit of not being dumb as rocks, so your magicka won't be horrible.

*spoiler alert*

I just wanted to ask those of you that have closed the Oblivion Gate in Kvatch if you have found another gate, thats right in the open? I took Martin(heir to throne) to Weynon Prior or whatever, and then I was going towards the Imperial City when I find another Gate just off to the left of the path! Then some of those friggin goblins started coming out. I was just wondering if anyone else found it before that, or if closing the first Gate did something.

LOL i was in the forest galloping with my horse when i saw those kinda-lizzard guys hide behind a tree, just scared the hell outta me when other 3 came in front and attacked, while the hided one, came from the back and nailed me a nice hit, lol i was like wtf, they can do surprise attacks or ambushes? or was it just coincidence?....anyways, this is awesome, best 60dlrs investment with GRAW.

I've only done the first oblivion gate, I've been messing around with side quests for a long time. I'm a marksman/alchemist/thief, so I've been going around looking for farms to steal from so I can make potions and boost my alchemy skill, and also "damage health" poisons to put on my arrows :D. Are you having trouble? I'd suggest joining guilds and doing some work for them before anything else: the fighter's guild can be joined in, um, cheldenhall? The thief's guild finds you when you've been arrested a few times, the assassin's guild finds you when you've murdered someone (recommend doing that in a nice, faraway place with no guards, like a farm), although their first quest requires better lockpicking skill than I have... Mages guild is around somewhere, I think I joined in the town northwest of weydon priory, but my memory is a bit blurry on that point.

As to whether it's getting better, I must admit that I disliked Morrowind for a while until I really figured it out, and my Morrowind knowledge is helping me here. If you can do alchemy, do as much as possible, then sell (some of) your potions to a merchant (the Copious Coinpurse in the Imperial City is easy to barter with, but don't forget to use persuasion to make him like you first!). That's given quite a healthy boost to my money, which has let me get some necessary training and equipment.

58 - #55 (spoiler)
asdf 03.23.2006 18:56
I've run into that one, as well as a few others. Not sure if there's any causality, but I know that there are supposed to be, uh, 10 or 11 gates throughout the game, and you've got to close them all to finish the main quest (you never really BEAT an elder scrolls game until you run out of quests ;) ).

Here's a link to how vampirism was cured in Morrowind: http://www.uesp.net/morrow/quest/mw_qvampire.shtml#vampirecure

That may help some, check out bookstores for the book they mention, or other books like that. By the look of it, it won't be entirely easy to do... Good luck!

#60 Dont be embarrassing yourself and us of hispanic heritage please, if you can't appreciate the neatness of Xbox please refrain yourself from making those comments. Microsoft envisioned the online world on consoles, Playstation didn't. Currenlty Microsoft is envisioning a console that will be able to be the center of an entertaining room. Thouse that may not sound too appealing to many out there, so did the phone when it first came out, Microsoft is just too ahead for its time. About the games, I love RPGs and I can tell you that Oblivion has done a great job in creating such game, Microsoft is trying to play it risky and come up with new features and that's why we may see some bugs certain times. So next time you have a comment, please think before you speak, and what is up with the Spanish dude? I am a hispanic myself and find it rather annoying posting something in a different language right on an AMERICAN website? sighs....Be well and those who haven't bought this game yet, GET IT!!!!!

GRAW is awsome too. I have GRAW and love it. I also bought Oblivion and graphics are great but it took me a few levels to get into this game. If you dont have patience and dont like RPG's you still won't like this game. Graphics make the game look great but the gameplay is what counts. I am not saying the gameplay isn't awsome or anything but to some people that don't have patience to find things and figure things out this game isn't for you. I have a few people on my friends list that purchased this game and returned it b/c they didn't have the patience. Good luck and hope you like this game I do.

if they really wanted to make oblivion next-gen, then they should have put some cash advance stores in there so i could borrow some gold til payday. then i could try and haggle to get lower rates. (just kidding) the game is awesome. it's about time we got something that actualy takes time & effort to complete. even if you're not a huge rpg person, which i'm not, you can still find enjoyment because of the freedom. i look forward to slaughtering every person in a town and claiming it as my own. i'll keep some women and become a redgaurd pimp. even in tamriel pimpin aint easy.

I was a little disappointed with the load times and strange pauses that have occurred pretty often but I guess that is to be expected with a game of this magnitude. I stayed up till about 2 last night and am typing this from work today, damn I'm tired but its worth it.

I think that all you that have the game can agree with me. Oblivion is so huge and beautiful you can just stop playing and look at the landscape and be amazed. Just yesterday I was on a quest to help this guy find so root so he could make potions for me. So like any other one would do I told him that I would go find the roots so he could make me potions. Well after looking for about the better half of the night I got tired of looking for this root and went to join a guild. So now I’m in a guild with no horse running the country side. This game looks and even plays great you won’t believe how lost you can get just by running through the woods. It’s a great game that everyone should pick up...unless you don’t like RPG’s but you should still give this game a try. I recommend it.

Unregistered - Oblivion Worshiper 03.24.2006 13:05
I have just started to play the game but I am very impressed. The graphics are beautiful and the control takes little time to master (IMHO). It doesn't have on-line play, but I don't miss that at all. It really sets a standard for the games that follow it.

76 - Slow load issue - clearing game cache
Unregistered - speed 03.24.2006 13:20
For those of us having long load times:

Reset your Xbox, and hold down the A button as the game is booting up. If any button is held while Oblivion is loading, it will clear its hard drive cache, and create a new one. Once you see the “Bethesda Softworks” logo video, the game is already loaded, and the cache should have been cleared.

I don't want to start anything but your posts force me to respond. Keep dreaming kid and also keep your opinions to yourself. PS3 isn't slightly stronger, it's at least 50% stronger than EX-BOX 1.5 , look at Oblivion review at IGN, they say it's frame rate drops and is not smooth in populated areas of the game. This machine can't even run Oblivion perfectly. It's ugly and low quality and has no good games. Still it's far from E3 and you're feeling the heat. In November 2006 EX-BOX 1.5 will be history....old news. Mark my words. I come here to read news about PS3 in English not hearing about your stupid Box and how good it is. I am not interested! KYOUMI GA ARIMASEN !!!

Unregistered - ui 03.25.2006 17:19
Taken from the review:
“Though you can see extremely far into the distance, far off hills will be blanketed in low-resolution textures that otherwise mar a beautiful scene. Loading times may also be a bother. Not the loading times when entering doors or fast traveling around the world, those are entirely manageable. It’s the loading that occurs when traveling across the land that will cause the Xbox 360 version to stutter, as well as any mid to lower end PC. The game needs to load in grass and environmental objects at regular intervals, and the ensuing pause in the action may turn some off. There’s also a very visible amount of pop-in, as grass, rocks and even houses appear at the edges of your vision."

“While the game runs at a steady clip in dungeons and indoors, you’ll notice a performance hit when traveling quickly through outdoor areas and in crowded towns. These framerate drops don’t so much affect the gameplay, but remain an annoyance as it takes you out of the experience."

“Bugs include the PC version crashing to desktop and freezes during loading screens on the Xbox 360. When we first popped in our Oblivion disc it has absolutely painful loading times, but they went away the second time we fired the game up and haven’t returned since. Other bugs include monsters and NPCs disappearing, clipping through walls, and strange sound glitches."

LOL 360 is on the level of a mid to lower end PC bwahahahahahahahaha

88 - shuichi
Unregistered - ui 03.25.2006 17:21
Well said XbugTerminator. This is exactly what I meant...Xbox360 is overhyped. The so called super efficient Xenos GPU with 48 "unified" pipelines and Xenon CPU with three cores must perform better than a normal or high end PC , isn't it?

Xbox360 ---->Frame drop
High end PCs ---->Frame drop
Ultra high end PCs with dual core CPU & SLI GPU ---->Perfect performance

"...According to past and recent interviews with Todd Howard and other members of the Bethesda Softworks team, Oblivion is the very first Xbox 360 game to utilize all three symmetrical cores of the CPU." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls_IV:_Oblivion

"...What you see on Xbox360 now is only the tip of the iceberg, RSX is only an overclocked 7800, Cell is a worthless thing and you don't need it, who needs blu-ray, Sony is lying, PS3 is overhyped, etc,etc.." MS and nearly all Xbugs say these everyday. Add to this the constant bashing and demonizing of Sony and the Japanese by these people and do the math. Honestly who is playing dirty here?

89 - ps3 will own
Unregistered - Vanes 03.25.2006 17:35
I kinda think the Japanese are the ones that really know what they're doing (Nintendo and Sony, that is...). The Japanese are the ones the revolutionized video gaming (they started it), so...no wonder that they've got a headstart: they've got more experience. I'm not saying the 360 is awful, it looks cool, but I don't think that MS has enough experience...yet. Plus, the fact that the console launched at Christmas wasn't the best idea. 360 now has a headstart (although I don't really consider it like a headstart), but MS kind of rushed the console (no wonder it's out early...). When you look at PS3 or the Revolution, they aren't out yet. I assume that means that Sony and Nintendo are taking their time to have good consoles with not too many problems when they launch...(Another thing that's too bad is that MS basically stopped producing Xbox games when the Xbox 360 came out. Sony confirmed that they'd keep having games for PS2 even when PS3 would be out.)

Unregistered - Wlad 03.25.2006 20:30
I STILL don't understand why PSe fans keep coming to the Xbox posts, are you really that nervous? It's also really funny how ALL the posts come DAYS later after the news was created, I guess so no one gets a chance to defend the Xbox. If you ALL know so much about PS3, you should know that when the idea of playing online with it, they pretty much rejected it. MS comes out and introduces Xbox live and we see the people at PS3 flipping about it. And how about that guy who worked for PS3 and got FIRED for stating the Xbox would be better?? ABOUT IGN, I got newsflash for you, their reviews can be BIASED many times. Perhaps you don't know so much about the movie industry and you know about video games, but some reviewers at IGN did post some nasty reviews on Star Wars with very ignorant comments if I may say, making it obvious they just hate the movie and that's it. Besides, IGN STILL gave a 9.5 overall, oh and lets not forget that the GREATEST rate IGN has EVER given a game was an XBOX game.....if you feel like dashing some more, ur welcome....

Why do they allways sacrifice gameplay for graphics. They should have kept the gameplay exactly as deep as in morrowind. They took out several spells including my favorite the "levitate" spell which you could essentially fly with and usefull for getting out of catch spots. Im beginning to believe that they rushed the game and they'll probably come out with a second version like they did with morowind and that is not right because ill have to spend more.

YOU DENY IT OVER AND OVER THAT THE PS3 WILL HAVE BETTER GRAPHICS. OH, AND THE REASON WHY THE PS3 IS DELAYING SO MUCH IS BECAUSE SONY WANTS TO MAKE IT BETTER THEN THE 360 IN EVERY ASPECT.

THE PS3 WILL TRULY BE THE NEXT GENERATION OF GAMING AND YOU XBOX360 FANS CAN DENY IT ALL YOU, BUT JUST WAIT TILL IT COMES OUT. THEN ALL OF YOUR'RE WORDS AGAINST THE PS3 WILL MEAN NOTHING.
