Xbox360News.comWith all the noise being made about the price and package options someone must have missed this tidbit of information. Apparently according to a translation of the French site Jeux-France MS also announced that all previous XBox games would be backward compatible with the new hardware. Of course you will need the HDD, but who actually planned on purchasing the Core system anyways?? Here is the rough translation: - Microsoft presents their stand at Games Convention 2005 and their partnership with the living room. The figures of sales are revealed. - 2 million users in Xbox Live, the list of the g on Xbox is approached, Microsoft announces that all the games on Xbox are compatible with Xbox 360 - the characteristics of Xbox 360 are evoked. The console is finished and in commercial version. - an American representative of Microsoft exposes the various possibilities of connections of the console and the use of Xbox Live. The interface is shown in detail on Xbox 360. - Ipod and a PSP are connected to Xbox 360, the representative shows the musical interface and of transfer of the console. - Microsoft announces that all the editors work on Xbox 360 and with compatibilities online of the console. You should try to use proper sentance syntax when writing articles. Unregistered - sKi 08.17.2005 21:52 It's "sentence". Unregistered - Nux 08.18.2005 02:57 :) Unregistered - spelling check 08.18.2005 03:22 he said "grammar" and not "spelling." Unregistered - Surfer 08.18.2005 03:55 This link's dead already too...nice one. Unregistered - Huey2k2 08.18.2005 10:58 Full backwards compatability would be sweet. Unregistered - Chlamydia 08.18.2005 22:05 I'll believe it when I see it. The Xbox ran on NVidia chipset technology, and the 360 runs on ATI chipset technology. The 2 have distinct differences in shaders and graphics handling. They might get backwards compatibility, but I would bet the graphics would be subpar compared to running the games on a gen1 Xbox. My guess is, they'll either make the top MGS games compatible, or the top [insert your number here] selling gen1 xbox games. Unregistered - Brandon Paddock 08.19.2005 10:36 Now that they don't have to work around possible patent issues from Nvidia (since the tech has apparently been licensed for the Xbox 360), it shouldn't be all that hard. The CPUs in the X360 should be capable of running VirtualPC or a similar VM for hosting the game, and since both cards use D3D, thunking those calls to the actual OS shouldn't be too terribly hard (as opposed to emulating them). I don't think it will be an issue. There might be 1 or 2 odd ball games that have some issues, as the PS2 does with PS1 games. But I think you're more likely to see *better* looking games than worse ones. But most probably they'll just look the same (performance will be the interesting comparison). Unregistered - GoodyMan 08.29.2005 02:28 Full backwards compatibility would be rockin'! Add Comment |
