Ironically, these 1080p televisions can not accept a 1080p signal. Yes, you read that correctly. Can see slight ghosting with the 1080i but really not loads of difference so my question is this is it really worth the extra money for something that you really cant tell alot of difference to??? Unregistered - OEM 04.18.2006 14:03 NOPE !! Unregistered - Ric Hard 04.18.2006 14:06 If the tv can't except 1080p signals then what good is the tv going to be in the future. Sooner or later television station are going to make that mandatory for viewing their programs and this tv is going to be obsolete. Even dvd's are going HD and Blu rays. I know probably for now 720p is mandatory and not 1080p. But I just can't see it staying that way for long. Mighty Boom 04.18.2006 14:45 That was a good read. I cant wait to get a DLP that can accept 1080p. Video game heaven. Silver360 04.18.2006 14:45 I read this and what I get is that 1080p( 30 frames ) is not so good for gaming. Who cares about movie play back if you are buying the system for games. I also see that 1080p ( 60 frames ) is not available yet. So what is the big deal? FamoAmo 04.18.2006 14:58 I cant tell a difference really at all I have 1080i and 1080p isnt much better I cant really tell the difference and for that little difference I won't spend a few extra thousand! As long as you have HD that is good enough for me!!! Unregistered - Optimus 04.18.2006 15:57 Not only that 1080p wont become mandatory anytime soon. It isn't even a current hdtv standard. 720P and 1080i are. You wont see 1080p being forced anytime soon it takes years to become a standard. Not even the most expensive equipment out there can record 1080p at more than 24 or 30fps. So when sony says 2 1080p outputs at 120fps you know its bull. The ps3 wont play games at 1080p and have them look as good as the best 360 games why does everyone think sony is no longer bragging about 1080p the true game resolution? Unregistered - Gamer 04.18.2006 16:57 I went to Circut City 2 weeks ago and got a 30 inch Samsung HD-TV that does 1080i. It's a Slim-Fit CRT. I love it... makes my 360 look amazing. It also supports HDMI stuff as well. Got my tv... with a tv stand with 2 glass doors... and it came with a samsung 5 cd/dvd disc changer and surround sound speakers all for $1000. I also don't have to have it paid off until 08. Plus I have a service plan of 5 years on it, the worker told me if at any time Im displeased with the unit I can bring it back and put the money towards a equal or better unit... or get my cash back. The plan cost me like $250 if I remember correctly. But none the less it has been a amazing buy! But yeah I think Sony's hyping stuff will bite them in the @$$ soon, but hey we will see. Im supporting the HD-DVD format if it comes down to it. Because to me HD-DVD sounds great with HD-TV... not BLU-RAY and HD-TV? just don't sound right to me. Also the price for HD-DVD players sounds more consumer friendly. Cause lets face it... non-gamers aren't going to buy a $500 gaming PS3 for a barely sub-par BLU-RAY player. They will want a stand alone player, thus making the HD-DVD format look more accepting because of the price of the players and virtually d@mn near the same quality of BLU-RAY. I think it will come down to the price, because too expensive becomes not likely affordable for virtually anyone! Unregistered - me 04.18.2006 20:24 1080i looks better upconverted to 1080p plus its being played at its native resolution 1920x1080! Add Comment |
