Xbox Live is set to go offline from 0200 - 1500 Tuesday Pacific Time (1000 Tuesday - 0100 Wednesday UK time) Speculation is that this is a pre- E3 servicing, ready for E3 content to be placed on the marketplace and also the long awaited Spring dashboard update. Could background downloading be heading our way soon?

Unregistered - Sean 04.30.2006 12:10 I know what you mean, but if this is going to be all day, this may be one awesome upgrade. Let's hope so. Unregistered - DEIx15x8 04.30.2006 13:40 Maybe background downloading since one week later is E3 with tons of download time waiting. They might also, and hopefully will, create a new section for E3 like they have with Videos and Demos, Game Content, Etc. If we are really lucky maybe they will pull an Apple move and go on stage to show off the new Camera and then end it by saying that it is available now! That would be the easiest way to gain an immediate win at E3 06. pRo loGic II 04.30.2006 13:48 O bummer lol Unregistered - Long Duck Dong 04.30.2006 14:05 Are you guys for real, what a laugh that is. Cant go live for a day and you guys are whining like a bunch of little p@ssies. Get lives you idiots, I would never waste my time on live for the simple reason of having to deal with a bunch of whiny sh@t talkin children that like to use cheat codes like you. Heck with all that, I prefer to kick back smoke one and play oblivion you p@ssies! PAUL CERULA 04.30.2006 14:08 Yeahhh, getting ready to let Halo 3 become the most downloaded trailer ever. Can't wait, what a good thing to have after finals. Unregistered - ... 04.30.2006 15:22 #8, the only thing you smoke is man pole. If you donot have any internet access, will the update be avalable for download on computer so it can be burned to a disc and then installed/updated? I think a major upgrade to the 360 system itself warrents such an ability. Unregistered - jo 04.30.2006 17:47 yet again another 1000 360s well die after this update Unregistered - deru1 04.30.2006 17:51 anyone else think that xbox live presently or for the future years will just be used my developers (cough- 2K sports)to release premature games, riddled with bugs and freeze problems, only then to patch it up later through Xbox Live to sort it out later when they have made all the money already. sort it out! Oblivion- framerate issues. Madden- don't get me started with that unplayable piece of s@it! Or they should just test these games for longer. Some bugs in some games could be spotted by a ape. Nuff said. Unregistered - demo 04.30.2006 17:58 is the update for europ 2 ??????? chimera360 04.30.2006 18:11 ok sorry to sound dumb, but the patches save on the Hard dive yeah? so what happens if your hard drive is full? how much room does the average patch use? sorry just curious. Unregistered - sa 04.30.2006 18:44 XBL update not console, gueez. Unregistered - REDMOND BOYZ 04.30.2006 18:45 ONE day!, you guys make it sound like Y2K OOOOOKKK! Unregistered - yay 04.30.2006 21:38 yeah i rather waste my life on drugs than xbl . sarcasim ,idiot ) Unregistered - .. 04.30.2006 21:53 #8 IDK how anyone could say XBL is junk! Unregistered - aries 04.30.2006 22:14 well #8 either doesnt have broadband, is afraid of competition and people, or just plain lives in the 90s and thinks online is a fad. either way he wont be missed. PAUL CERULA 04.30.2006 22:29 WOAH WOAH , guys calm down Don't let some dogmatic sony sheep start an uprising by saying XBL sucks. Cause Sony's just copying so what makes their motive any better. The guys retarded among many others. It's not like we're gonna convince him otherwise so the best method is to ignor him. Or make a little side note in a lengthy comment, but no more. We're not going to chase him down a road with torches and blunt objects. Remember the Xbox has the least amount of fanboyism because of it's late arrival after ps2 and gamecube. And nintendo's fanboys are the worst, next the sony boys. how much truth can you handle.... Unregistered - Nodoze 04.30.2006 23:28 I for one applaud MS for a job well done. The 360 is a great piece of hardware, with software that can be updated/upgraded. The issues you mention with games are not the fault of MS, but instead the developers (so take up the Madden issues with EA not MS). Do you complain to your computer hardware vendor when your software has issues? In respect to the update....I cannot wait. I am wondering how much felxibility MS built into the box with respect to an 'os' update/refresh. Could they change the entire look of the dash (not that they will, just curiosity here). Also for those without Live, you are truly missing out. I understand there are a myriad of play styles and that some (even with broadband) have no interest in multiplayer games....if that is you so be it. I for one and loving the Live gold membership. I just wish they would update the PC interface blade, the arcade blade (it deserves it's own), and the marketplace content browsing and downloading (these are supposed to be part of the spring update). Also, if what MS has planned for E3 can be pulled off, I again take my hat off to them. It will mark the first time in history that a console delivers it's owners content and news from the E3 show floor!! Bravo MS!! BRAVO!! Trickedbullet 05.01.2006 00:29 Supposedly you can download updates such as backwords compatability updates to your computer, then burn these updates to a CD or DVD (not sure which) then pop the disc into the 360 and update it, assuming you have the harddrive. If this is true, then the OS/ Dashboard update should be able to do the same. That way, if I happen to go to a friends who does not have Live, I can update their console. I would like to make a hard copy of such an update do that I could reinstall it without having to jump back onto Live. I travel to my friend's houses a lot and the lucky ones that have a 360, dont have Live. I also wouldnt mind puting all the game updates to disc either, as well as all the backwards compatability updates as well. Does anyone know if all or some of what I have said is true/possible/ or definite? Unregistered - BloodResident 05.01.2006 02:06 Sorry People no new dashboard update, Major Nelson has already confirmed this on hes latest podcast. The downtime is just for maintenance for pre-E3, But he does hint at cool new features added when they switch Live back on. Unregistered - Matthew Cranney 05.01.2006 18:16 I 100% Agree with you... And I'll tell you that I use to prefer single Player games over Multiplayer games... but then I a year ago today I played Halo 2 on XBL and it changed my life forever (when it comes to Multiplayer) Unregistered - Long Duck Dong 05.01.2006 22:12 far from a fanboy for one, moron! tried live and didnt like it, boring like most of the weak kids comments in here. get lives you followers, live sux face it. not to mention the march update that fried most of you idiots 360s, lol. grow a brain! Unregistered - Matthew Cranney 05.02.2006 09:43 If you think your rambling will get us to ditch XBL and switch to Ps3's crappy online service you are sadly mistaken... XBOX LIVE RULES!!!!!!! SO ZIP IT... or be arrested by "The BS Police" For BULLSH*TING... it's the biggest crime of all time! Add Comment |
