Codemasters today announces an original next-generation title with the signing of Overlord from developer Triumph Studios, whose pedigree includes the award-winning strategy series Age of Wonders. Overlord is a groundbreaking action adventure, set in a seriously warped fantasy world. Scheduled for a summer 2007 release, Overlord will launch for PC and as a console exclusive for the Xbox 360. Controlling a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the evil, long-dead Overlord, the player emerges, near death, from the ruins of the old Overlord’s Dark Tower. Only the player’s actions will determine if they will rise to become the new all-powerful Overlord; it’s all down to how much of a bad ass they want to be in order to succeed… evil or really evil! Played out with plenty of black humour and dark irony, the game will immerse players in twisted parodies of classic fantasy scenarios and characters. Overlord’s key innovation is the introduction of an array of impish creatures – the Minions. They believe you are the old Overlord reborn and will use their unique skills to fetch, fight and die for you. Throughout the game players will actively control a horde of these gremlin-like critters and they’ll follow your every instruction no matter how despotic or, for the Minions, life threatening it is. Says Lennart Sas, Director at Triumph Studios: Says Barry Jafrato, Senior VP of Brand for Codemasters: With more details on this unique gaming property to be revealed through the course of its development, Codemasters will publish Overlord for Xbox 360 and PC in summer 2007.

Unregistered - Xgamer 05.02.2006 11:07 Coming from them, this has potential to be an incredible title. Very good news indeed. I know we'll be seeing more of this to come but 1 draw back is that were still going to be getting a pc designed for title while top notch graphics not next gen. graphics from a pc. not what Xbox 360 is still truley capable of. We'll have to have next gen. console only games for this to happen and fortunately for us we do:) It's going to be a great year for the XBOX 360! Unregistered - Xgamer 05.02.2006 11:09 unless it's designed for the XBOX 360 first and not the pc and then ported to the pc but I dont think that's what there doing. UBI did it right with GRAW and then ported that to everyone else. MikeIsOnFire84 05.02.2006 11:16 This game looks sick.Best thing ive seen shown so far for the 360! samonmoose 05.02.2006 11:29 either way i love the artistic style and posturing, hopefully the game will be worth more than renting. Unregistered - kiki 05.02.2006 12:57 Lets get something straight! i really like microsofts xbox 360 its a great deal and the systeme is freakin powerfull! BUT having the budget i would ALWAYS buy PC peripherals instead of consoles because maybe right now its more powerfull but already we will be seeing video cards for the pc at the end of this year that will do the same and from then on it will only get better, wile the x360 will stay the same! games will always look better on a PC. i will never denie myself that fact expecialy in the years to come! example: crytec engine 2 exclusife for the PC ! "did you see those graphics" vivre le 360! Unregistered - Douchbag McGee 05.02.2006 14:11 I want to make sweet love to this game...right here and now. Well not literally, that would actually be very tough and quite uncomfortable. But it looks sexy nonetheless. Unregistered - pRo loGic 05.02.2006 14:38 O MY GOD!!!!!! Unregistered - OEM 05.02.2006 16:22 Not really up to date on this game or if it has a history, but from what I can see ... it has my attention now. schnodder 05.02.2006 17:00 wowsens Lucid360 05.02.2006 18:18 You wont see a PC video card that can do what the 360 can till WIndows Vista launches and dx10 launches and they have GPUs that are FULLY compatrable with the DX10 instruction set. 360 has a GPU that incorporates about 1/3 to 1/2 the instruction set of dx10 and the unified shader set...AND the price for the 360 is about the same as what the VIDEO card will cost you. Sure Dual GFX Cards with Crossfire and etc can push some massive speed but they are not DX10 ready yet, with the changes Vista will incorporate. And you don't have to upgrade a 360 for 5 years ;) Just insert games and as the cycle of the system advances the instructions will get better. I don't even need to talk about how NO PC has the pipeline thruput of the 360 do I? and yes, Crytek engine looks kick ass. But don't think for a second the 360 will hesitate to run it. Unregistered - Guy 05.03.2006 13:18 Those two pictures look sick. Unregistered - DK4tehw1n 05.03.2006 14:17 Smells of... Dungeon Keeper, Conrtol hordes of evil creatures >:D LONG LIVE DUNGEON KEEPER! :) Unregistered - Andy 05.04.2006 14:09 LOOKS SWEET BRING IT ON. Add Comment |
