Well, I *hope* they can pull it off. I suppose April isn't exactly a big month for console sales, and they'll get a boost from the PS3 price announcement, but another 5 million consoles in the next 6 months seems like a tall order. 4 -

As well as the boost due to the new knowlege of the PS3 price. Not to mention the blatent boost that will see more parents purchasing the 360 when it (will most probably) drop in price nearer the PS3 release, and due to the shortage the PS3 (currently) will appear to have on launch in November (If it makes November). 10 million should be reached by the PS3 launch... I wasn't sure if I wanted to go wait in line for a console but after I played the 360 man I was hooked. I found myself outside of SAMS at 4 am to get the first 1!!! Shortly after getting my console my brother wouldn't stop coming up to my house to play it!! The damn kid was hooked on it like drugs or something. I would go to sleep wake up the next day and he is still playing it!! He ended up buying 1 and like 3 more of my friends have since. The online experience is amazingly fun and the 360 is way superior to any console before it and its looking like the best next gen console!!! 10 -

Its expected that with the library that ps2 has and the new price point...that would increase sales for the ps2...the xbox360 will reach the 10 million mark by the end of year due to the games that is releasing this year. 12 -

Additionally if/when they launch they will make the MS console shortage look like nothing. It will be a paper launch only and that will continue for months on end. I can envision Ebay prices for the thing exceeding 1k!! I say why wait? The 360 has some great titles available, and even more on the way this holiday season. The XBOX 360 has a vast amount of new and high quality next gen. games coming out and with that sales will increase in the 1 million plus per month range easily. Some of the new games coming out are actually great enough to buy a console for strictly based on that one game. And we have alot of those coming out between now and xmas. So I dont see a problem. I do still see a problem with quanities. My local wal mart got in 8 360 premium and 8 core's and they sold out in 1 day and then no inventory again for a almost 10 day's so with the increase in demand the increase in shipments has to catch up. I'm confident it will soon, by june. The ps3 is weak and is problematic and not a threat at this point. More consoles gives the XBOX 360 the advantage due to it's superior graphics engine the games look awesome and live is incredible. NO, there's no problems here, we'll be fine. 27 -

You guys just wait when the xbox 360's are the only next gen consoles come christmas. That's worth every risk MS took with getting the 360's out a year prior. PS3 still can't fit and cool that unefficent processor into the case. They're not even producing any consoles. When it comes down to it MS and Nintendo will do the best this year. And with a Halo 3 frenzy for the spring after the 360 is sure to surpass their goal of 10 million. 29 -

I am the only one in my family not to buy any of sony's garbage, and I am glad I did. 6 ps2's later my family is finally converting to the MS side. They all love their computers, but they would not convert, that is, untill now. The Ps2 has such high numbers because of the following: 1.Cheap!!! It never cost much when it was new anyway. 2.No competition! The Dreamcast fell under Sony's Tempertantrums. 3.Problems with the ps2 required users to rebuy their console. The Blue backed game disc problems helped add to this problem. Even with a newer model problems ensued. 4.LIES!!!! Sony lied out the @ss to get people to buy it, even after they "destroyed" the competition(Dreamcast). 5.Most buyers of the ps2 know nothing about electronics. All of the people I know who have one follow the same pattern. Know nothing about computers, have little money, believe anything they are told, and fight to defend their mistakes no matter how wrong they are. I came to this conclusion after viewing all of my sony loving friends. As of this moment, About 97% of them now love MS and MS only. SO BOOYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unregistered - 360 4 EVER 05.18.2006 05:43 #29 makes a good point i have bought 4 playstation 2's and all of them died pretty quick i got half way thru FF10 and my second one died on me it took me a couple of weeks to save up the money for a new one then when i beat the game about two mounths later that one died so in other words F-sony and there cheap gaystation i had 2 xbox 1's and the one that died was after i had it for 3 years and countless halo LAN parties so i was willing to pay for a new one but every time i had to buy a PS2 i felt like kickin myself in the ass every time i bought one but it had all the good RPG's 32 -

The PS2 inventory is readily available, while the 360 is just now starting to appear at retail for 'impulse' purchases 2. The PS2 costs 129, the X costs 299/399 (this is like comparing Ford Focus purchase volume, to Porsche 993's). 3. The 360's are not being replaced due to failure rates, they are being welcomed into new homes!!! All I can say is wait and see. I doubt we will see many PS3's (if any) until next year. This will lead the EB's, GameStop's, and others to volume sell the 360. Large library of games....that SELL, highest attach rate in the industry etc. Why would they focus on selling a vaporware PS3 with a maximum of 15 games?? 33 -
