Its OK, people at one time believed the world was flat too, so believing Sony's incessant marketing hype is not without precedent. My $600 will go towards Rainbow Six:Vegas, Gears of War, Spore, Madden, NCAA, Splinter Cell and I'll still have enough scratch left over to pre-order Halo3 and Huxley as well. Sony fanboys will have a theoretical box and no games for that same cash.... Sony is in deep, deep trouble over this whole console era. Microsoft may never dominate as Sony did with the PS2, but I am very sure Sony is going to drop a ton of marketshare due to their insane pricing structure. 5 -

Bad moveUnregistered - hat 05.18.2006 13:57 Sony sealed its downfall when it decided that implementing a new media, a concept at which it has failed several times (ie. Betmax, UMD, etc), was more important than making a gaming console to compete with the stiffest competition Sony has had yet in that area, Microsoft. It shows Sony's lack of consideration for its gamer fanbase. In addition, the massive hardware problems Sony is having with the PS3 (ie. underperforming cell, etc.), and its follow the leader attitude (copying directly from MS and Nintendo) really exemplifies Sony's fall from grace. MS won't be as dominate because of its problems cracking the Japanese market, but it looks like MS will take over before this generation is over. I think there's room for three consoles in the market, so with Sony imploding, I'm wondering who will step in and slay the wounded beast, permanately. Could we see the return of Sega? 12 -

Price is highUnregistered - big joe bloe 05.19.2006 11:10 While i like all of the consoles from all major companies i think that some of them are exagerating on hte prices. I was pissed when MS decided to make 2 360 prices but i managed to buy the premium one... as far as sone i think they are aiming too high and that they expect fans to follow their expectations and pay up to play on their machines....fine and dandy..that's the way suits think in a company but sometime the real world will react differently... the ps3 will be expensive and many fans will be turned off by it and will move to 360 or nintendo or pc altogether....you gotta buy a 600$ console and you don't even have games to play with it yet so to be ready you would need at least a 1000$ to get the console and a few games..that is a lot...and not everyone will be able to afford that.. i put off buying the psp also because it was too expensive and i am still waiting for it to go down and down till i like the price... i probably won't buy the new nintendo until it is really cheap like maybe 2 years from now... you gotta sit down and think about this... If i wanna play now i am gonna have to fork a lot of dough or i wait a bit maybe buy a cheaper console still get some good gaming done and still enjoy myself plus sony is notorious to have different cheaper revision of their hardware as time goes by so maybe the waiting game is better... i dunno it is a tuff one...i am not a fanboy of anybody i like them all but i buy what i can afford and i bought the 360 because i could barely afford it.... cheers 16 -
