It seems that Sony had stolen their idea originally from microsoft.

Even if the controller is stupid or anything at least the Console itself is so good that bill gates will buy one +) Unregistered - john 05.24.2006 07:14 get a live moron, i have a 360 and a pc for games, if ps3 is good i will buy that also. at one time i have a pc,ps2,dreamcast and gamecube. what ever happened to people buying more than one console? lets face it xbox360 and ps3 will both be cool Unregistered - unknown 05.24.2006 07:31 i agree with 2 Islandkiwi 05.24.2006 07:32 Peter Moore is absolutely correct here. PS3 developers weren't even aware this was going to be a feature of the controller...they'd all thought rumble. It's clear that it was thrown in last minute because Sony has refused to come to terms with Immersion. Unregistered - Neutral 05.24.2006 08:18 I agree with these 2 also. Why cant people get some brains like these 2 and see that all 3 consoles will have something great to offer. If I listened to someone like #1 and get a PS3 and have this childish vendetta against Xbox360 then what do I do when Halo 3 coms out? I love the Halo series. Im a big RPG fan and Oblivion is one of the best RPGs ever. Can you get these 2 games on PS3? No you cant and I want to play them so what would I do? after all its the games that count. Same goes for the great games PS3 will have and the 360 wont and not forgetting Wii with zelda etc. All 3 consoles will have something great to offer and have some great games on them. I will get all 3 but realise that not everyone can afford to do this so my advice is to get whatever console has the games you like and forget about the others and enjoy it. As for the contollers well I think the motion sensor like the Wiis will have a limited application. But with nintendo they have given the Wii the ability to use the Gamecube contollers so you can still have the force feedback so get the best of both worlds. I think Sony included it because they didnt like the idea of another console having an ability that the PS3 didnt and Sony cant have that. Like it or not with the hugh success of the playstation brand its made sony very arrogant and very self assured. I think they will all be great machines but because of sonys arrogance I kinda hope the PS3 wont do as well as expected. Unregistered - Famo 05.24.2006 09:51 I agree w/#4 Sony was in a rush b/c fans wanted a controller and not that bananna thing. I personally don't like the Sony Dual shock controller never have and never will. I think we all can say that the 360 controller is sweet. It feels great in my hands and the rumble and wireless make the game that much better. I don't understand what the motion thing is going to do in the controller? Also the controller without the rumble option sucks!! I love being tuned into the game and all the sudden the rumble kicks in. It makes you more part of the game. Sony not having any rumble option is a mistake. I am also wondering with Sony including this motion thing in the controller at the last minute if its going to have major problems. Recalls...etc.... In the end I made the right decision I love my 360 and the wireless rumble controller is the best controller out!! Unregistered - Mo 05.24.2006 09:57 I recently got out my gamecube to play Smash Brothers, and my Wavebird felt really foreign for the first time ever. The 360 controller is very ergonomic, unlike the bear claw from the first Xbox. In fact, I remember choosing the gamecube over the xbox for that exact reason, or the PS2 for that matter. The controller is integral to the best game experience as that is how you manipulate your vitual reality. So yes, we have the best one on the market, I hope it only gets better from here... Unregistered - YOUR MASTER 05.24.2006 10:07 The ps3 is garbage not because it is worse than the 360, but because it is very costly. It is garbage because Sony lies to all their customers and tries to save face in the end. Sony only cares about making money by tricking its fanatics into buying their crap. Some of you will say that Microsoft does the same. No, this is not true. I have NEVER EVER had a problem withi MS and they have never lied to me at least. I can send them an email and within the hour I have a full detailed responce. I can call them up and have someone on the phone within five to ten minutes max. This is not the case with sony. Trying to get help from sony is like trying to call Time Warner Cable, they take hours to get a hold of and are not very helpful when you do get them to talk to you. I am Sorry, but Sony is just not worth my time or money. At least MS cares about what they have sold to you and make every attempt to fix it With little to no cost. Now, owning more than one console is fine and dandy, but very expensive. Even if you can afford multipul consoles the cost of accessories for both will blow your wallet to pieces. I would rather be dedicated to one console, not two. I should know, even owning both Xbox and Xbox 360 is a money hog. Games cost $60+ dollars and even used games cost too much. Unregistered - Vincent 05.24.2006 10:32 How great is the 360 wireless controller! I love that little son of a B!tch! I am extremely unimpressed with what Sony did with the new controller (or should I say old ) It hasn't changed much in how many years. Also the lack of rumble is not very next gen. "The next gen dosen't start till Sony says they will actuallly remove basic expected features from a system that cost upwards of 600 dollars!" Unregistered - there can be only one 05.24.2006 10:49 I'll give you a few reasons what's wrong with owning more than one: 1. If you have over a grand to blow on video games, more power to ya. 1b $399 1c. $599 1d. $60 per game per console 2. I have other interests than spending all of my available free time playing video games. 2b. I have a job. (Ask your parents if they'll consider adopting me so I don't have to work and I can play video games all day). 2c. I have sex regularly with my girlfriend. Unless you're a professional videogame reviewer or a game developer, I suggest you get a life. There's a world out there to explore. Plus, I guarantee, once you discover sex, your 360/PS3/Wii will no longer be tops in primary pasttimes. schnodder 05.24.2006 10:56 i totally agree with you!!! HyperBear 05.24.2006 10:57 Except for that one Sony fanboy who went first and the other 2 that said the controller on ps3 sucks, everyone on this article had posted something good about all 3 systems and how all 3 systems have their pros and cons and how we will most likely be getting all of them because of all the different games each one possesses. Ive got to say, this is the 1st article ive been to in a long time that has seen somewhat of an agreement between all the posters and the topic itself. And Yea, I agree with #2,3,5 on their comments on all 3 systems. I also agree with #4,6,7 on their agreement that sony rushed their controller and how it wasnt a good trade off for the rumble feature. This is how all comments on articles should go, NO MORE FANBOY CRAP. deepio 05.24.2006 11:17 I wanted both consoles from day one, but the price of the PS3 might be a little problem. Whats worse IMO however is the playable games at E3 were totally lacking (6 months from launch!), this is not fanboyism from me at all, I had a PS2 and an Xbox, now I've just got a 360. I just wanna play good games and Sonys press conference left me and plenty of others totally uninspired. And what I can't understand is people banging on about games like Resistance: Fall of Man, I mean, I checked out the video, read the "hands-on" articles and it looks nothing special to me, but plenty of fanboys are acting like its the best thing since sliced bread...bizarre. And even worse was the Genju 2 - realtime swapping of weapons....oooh wooooow...thats new!!! Heavenly Sword is the only thing that impressed, at all. As for copying controllers, who cares. Companies copy ideas off each other all the time. Unregistered - XBOX360FAN 05.24.2006 11:38 the xbox360 is the best period ask the developers.what happen to sony at e3 nothing new but stolen ideas lol lol lol.if sony thinks by having all that muscle in a system that looks identical to the xbox360.why pay $499 or $599 for less for what your getting when you can pay #299 or #399 for more.think about it. I will be getting nintendo wii also.Toshiba is better than SONY AS A BRAND BECAUSE TOHSIBA DON'T GO BY THEIR EGO LIKE MOST ELECTRONIC COMPANIES.AND TOSHIBA DO WHAT THEY SUPPOSE TO DO AS A ELECTRONIC GIANT.OH YEAH DIDN'T SONY SAY THAT BUNDLES WERE GOING TO BE AVAILABLE FOR THE PS3 LIKE MOVIES AND STUFF LOOKS LIKE SONY LIED AGAIN ANOTHE HYPE THING.I DON'T GET IT FONY. Unregistered - s 05.24.2006 12:08 Sony actually went backwards on this controller, not only did they keep the controller then same they removed rumble! LMAO! Runearrow 05.24.2006 12:48 yea yea..i admit....sony without the rumble thing is stupid...but still i been playing playstation since i was a kid and i will never love xbox...i had xbox..but i keep it on my cupboard only....and i play ps2 =) well.................................xbox does have some great games...i really wanted to try out oblivion....but still Ps3 RULES......Sorry but i still love Playstation no matter what happened.... also i found out somewhere i think it gamespot..it said WII games are expensive then both of the system[Ps3,xbox360] Unregistered - pRo loGic II 05.24.2006 12:51 #8 more power to you (agreed!) Unregistered - pRo loGic II 05.24.2006 12:55 #9 & 10 / so true Unregistered - Neutral 05.24.2006 13:01 Not a chance that Wii games will cost more than 360 or PS3. I dont doubt that you read a rumour on gamespot but I very much doubt its true. I think PS3 games will be the most exspensive as the development costs alone will drive the drive the price up and then of course they will be on Blue-ray disc. If you like Playstation so much thats great and your sticking to what you like and more people should just think about what they like and forget anout the rest and definatly dont slag off the other systems. One more thing I hate that saying when someone says something RULES e.g PS3 Rules or 360 Rules. I think its so childish. Unregistered - ChUnK 05.24.2006 13:05 ya know Xbox is awesome because of halo 3 and the rumble packs but im really not sure overall u get stuff from one that u dont get from the other and i might have to buy both lol Chunk Unregistered - BRIAN 05.24.2006 14:06 IM SOOOOOO SICK OF SONY QUEERS. GET A LIFE HOMOS! PAY 600 FOR YOUR CONSOLE AND LEAVE THE GROWN UPS ALONE WITH YOUR NONSENSE Unregistered - JO 05.24.2006 14:13 no-body is happy that the rumble is gone and the fact that 5% of gamers actually own a hd-tv {the difference between 720p and 1080p is what exactly} youll only notice a difference on a 50 inch+ screen i dont think the ps3 is for gamers {its a mess} no rumble / hdmi which i heard may not be used know / the cheaper one cant be upgraded to hdmi / the games are nothing the 360 cant do and its expensive in truth the ps3 could have wiped out the 360 and know its looking like it may not even compete with the 360 i reckon a price drop for christmas and a g-of war bundle would hurt sony Unregistered - h 05.24.2006 14:21 fps with out rumble lame. not knowing when your getting shot unless a light flashes lame again .this not moving forwards into the future but backwards . Unregistered - e 05.24.2006 14:22 this is Unregistered - waldopepper 05.24.2006 14:23 #2 "get a live moron, i have a 360 and a pc for games," Heh are you trying to be ironic? Pete is a great spokesman - it would be too easy just to do the usual "blindly shoot the competition" but he adds a note of kudos at the end - he knows that the more competition the 360 gets, the more it will innovate to keep up. A good competitor isn't always a bad thing. Unregistered - JO 05.24.2006 14:37 giving kudos as you call it EXAMPLE {dealing with workmen} im really happy with the work so far BUT I DONT LIKE blac blac blac you are obviously not in business Unregistered - Daewoodrow 05.24.2006 15:06 I see what you're saying, but I can't afford both platforms. Even so I still see no reason to shove my choice down everyone's throat after I get it. I do dislike Sony's policies, and I prefered to buy the 360. I just don't tell everyone this unless they ask. Unregistered - Asylumchild 05.24.2006 15:17 I think that the PS3 is goin to kill with the blue ray and the grafics but the 360 is the best community gamin system your always intouched with your friends and is fun to compete for highest gamerscore even though THE KING will never be beat its fun to fight for second lmao but cant wait for the PS3 and ill see which one is better but enyhow the controler WE all know that the REVOLUTION controler is goin to be the best hahahaha yeah right the PS3 controler is awsome because when u get mad and throw it it will come back (for those that are stupid DER DA DER THE PS3 controler is shaped liek a bomarange) not like the xbox360 controler iv already went threw 2 controelers there not to durable but very comforable needs more grip on the joystick though i find my fingers slipping of of them time to time .... Unregistered - 007 05.24.2006 15:19 only gametrolls make fun of people with a preference for 360 Unregistered - waldopepper 05.24.2006 15:22 #26 you are obviously not in English. I'm not entirely sure what your point is - care to explain that one a bit better? Are you saying Pete Moore is happy with Sony but not the controller? Unregistered - 007 05.24.2006 15:27 number 28 ps3 cant even launch on time sony has bigger things to worry about than being beat you cant be beat if you cant even get your sh!t together and make the console that they're boasting about Unregistered - Famo 05.24.2006 16:17 I would go back and read the news pal! The ps3 doesn't have the boomerang controller. They have the same old ps2 controller with no rumble pack!! Pretty much to sum it up it sucks!! Unregistered - Gamer 05.24.2006 16:30 They openly admitted to copying Xbox Live feature for feature. They patented the motion tech for the controller after Microsoft already used it in PC controllers, not to mention only decided to use it after Nintendo announced doing so in their Next-Gen system. Sony is boasting about their Graphics chip that has been on the PC market for a year and some months now (possibly longer) when Microsofts is built up from the ground up totally custom for the 360 and does things the PS3's will not. Sony talks about how their Cell Processors are better than what 360 can do. When Im pretty sure there has yet to be a game made that uses 360's threaded cores to do any of the Next-Gen stuff outside of graphics, that will obviously make its stand against PS3. Just one Next-Gen game that will prove this is the Cell Factor vids for 360, they showcase amazing physics. Sonys copying of Microsofts guide button, cheap move that don't even need to be explained. Sonys remaining hype over the Blu-Ray format when the HD format already has a market and has been selling out everywhere. Im confused wether Sony is marketing this thing for it's Blu-Ray dvd player capabilities or its gaming capabilities? also the name HD is already a consumer friendly name as people already know what HD is/does, the name HD is already friendly to consumers because they get HD programing on their HD tv's. Not Blu-Ray programing on HD tvs. Sounds tacky to me when I think of the idea (for example) "Channel 5 brought to you in Blu-Ray!"... sounds f**king weird. But you hear "Channel 5 brought to you in High-Def" sounds more efficent and blends better. You don't hear of Blu-Ray tvs on the market or anything. I mean it's all weird. In the end High-Def is more consumer friendly and consumers are more aware of what it's about. Also the word High-Def has already built a large market for itself. If you look at all of your HD tvs they are HD tvs not Blu-Ray tvs, etc.. I think Blu-Ray will be confusing to consumers, because lets face it... not every consumer is going to JUST buy a PS3 because it plays Blu-Ray dvds. Take into mind the consumers that don't play games or are new to High-Def. If they are already familiar with DVD... when they look at High-Def dvd and Blu-Ray dvd. Then look around and see High-Def tv's but not a tv set with Blu-Ray tagged on it. Wouldn't that make it seem like a distant product? just think of that... Im not saying Blu-Ray will fail (because either format has to prove itself still, regardless of how great HD is doing currently), but HD already is established already outside of the dvd format... for it's all over tv sets, and tv programing ALREADY! where as Blu-Ray has yet to show face! Also Sony's boasting of 2 HDMI's that are now BOTH GONE on the $500 model and 1 ONLY exists on the $600 model. 2 were promised and now 2 don't exist. Also 1 ONLY exists on the $600 model, thus meaning the core version of the PS3 won't even be capable of the visuals Blu-Ray is capable. Sony's $500 core system makes less sense than Microsofts $300 core system. Microsofts core system you still can use memory cards, Sony's core system you can not. Sony's core system won't have a HDMI output meaning the premium systems visuals will not be achieved, Microsofts core system can do HD with the simple purchase of a chord, etc.. also because of Sony's core system not having HDMI support also makes the Blu-Ray drive pretty much obsolete as it's visuals will not be utilized. I could think of more stuff put my ranting isn't letting me come up with it. Also Sony is losing a lot of its games to Microsoft for the fact that while developers know it's good to have all that space on a Blu-Ray disc, they also have yet to max out a current DVD-9 disc... which still has shown success in 360. The cost to make games between 360 and PS3 are huge also. As PS3 takes more coding/time to achieve literally the same things as 360. Also the format being a gamble is also something it's obvious developers are taking into thought as well. Oblivion on 360 proves you can have a massivley deep game and not need Blu-Ray to run it in all its glory. If HD-DVD or Blu-Ray fails it's not as huge of a burden on Microsoft because their system does not depend on either format, unlike Sony... I could also get deeper into this topic I just can't think at the moment of how much deeper I was wanting to get. On topic of Sony losing most of its games to Microsoft, you'd have to be blind not to see it. As a lot of their key developers are showing love to the 360. Also with some of them giving Microsoft some NEW/ORIGINAL and not to mention EXCLUSIVE titles. Where as more of Sony's game line-up lacks the NEW/ORIGINAL and EXCLUSIVE titles. Grant it Sony has SOME good EXCLUSIVE games but the over all HUGE majority are SEQUELS. While Microsoft has its fair share of SEQUELS as well... it makes up for its stacking amounts of NEW/ORIGINAL and EXCLUSIVE titles for their system. Something that is what used to make Sony so popular for. Don't forget Microsoft has yet to truely unleash all of its power in Japan as it's building up to drop a huge nuke over there as far as Japanese games go. As far as games, 360 has the better approach so far at least as it currently stands. Also in Japan, Metal Gear Solid 4 might be a key EXCLUSIVE for the PS3 system but it's not no Halo 3 key EXCLUSIVE for the 360. Because you don't see Metal Gear Solid ever getting broadcasted on the news here in America as the hugest selling game ever... like you did with Halo!. But one thing is for sure both PS3 and 360 will both be losing their key top notch heros next year. As Solid Snake and Master Chief head out on their final adventures. What it comes down to for me between the PS3 and 360 is this = The 360 already has more key EXCLUSIVE games from top notch developers that are heavy hitting ones at that. Where as Sony's key EXCLUSIVE games are hugely/vastley SEQUELS. This is what decided my choice in the 360 as also is the fact that the other games that look freaking amazing that I want to play will be available for both systems, catch is you can get the same exact expierence on 360 for a hundred -> hundreds of $'s cheaper! Now do you want a game system or a Blu-Ray player? or do you want a game system with the OPTION of a HD-DVD player? Do you like having a choice/opinion or having people make it for you? do you like to lead or be strung along? Think of my post, as I thought of all this before I made my 360 purchase. Competition is great for the market and all, but Sony won't be getting my money this gen to keep them going in the competition as I see their EXCLUSIVES are nothing but mostly SEQUELS and or their games are also available on 360. The Blu-Ray format also means nothing to me, so I will not be investing in that either. This is all a matter of MY OPINION which I am entitled to. But Im a current 360 owner and a soon to be Wii owner. Im not getting a PS3 because as far as Im concerned the things in the PS3 that I even care about that it can do, my 360 already does or already has things that PS3 has yet to prove it can do. Thus making a purchase of the system making no sense to me to make! Thank you for reading!!!! deepio 05.24.2006 18:21 On that note about multi-threaded games, check this article out... http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20050629-5054.html Interesting read and goes to show why we haven't seen any yet, and might not for sometime. Unregistered - Ps3 a possibility for me but 360 is a necessity for me 05.25.2006 03:40 Hey guys look, when i first found out that the ps3 didnt have vibration/rumble i was pissed because i love my 360 and the controller its awesome but look. The other day after i playing GRAW i was thinking about the ps3 and so i decided to go into options on the 360's menu and disable the vibration feedback. And then i turned off the system and went to bed. So today was the first time i fired it up since then. And i played for a while and was getting ready to end the game after continuously getting mowed down by the opposition when all of a sudden i realized i've been playing all this time without the rumble activated i didnt even miss it. So then i enabled it a played for a minute and it was great, but just like that i didnt want the rumble i had actually gotten used to not having it on that fast. And its off now and i think i'll leave it off for a while. So now im thinking maybe not having it on the ps3 wont be bad. What do you guys think. But its great to know that i can activate it when i want it. Add Comment |
