A story claiming that Sony is preparing to stop the potential sale of pre-owned PlayStation 3 games is being met with some skepticism by industry insiders.
According to a UK news source, citing retail contacts, Sony is preparing to make it illegal for consumers to sell used PS3 games. The plan would involve Sony adopting a licensing system whereby gamers would agree that they are purchasing a license to play a game, rather than the game itself.
If true, such a move would be a massive boost for publishers and developers which do not profit from the lucrative and damaging retail trade in used games. In fact, many publishers are furious that they have to spend support money on consumers who have not actually contributed a dime to the company's coffers.

Unregistered - shotty 05.24.2006 17:36 Can any one say root kits part 2. When will sony put the customers first and money second. I want the ps3 to be hacked right when it's released. Therefore no profits from games = sony bankrupt from making ps3. FreeMonk 05.24.2006 17:43 Why do people normally buy pre-owned games!?? 1. Game brand new are too bloody expensive, so they have to wait until they are second hand to afford them 2. The game is not worth the price brand new because of it's quality, but you won't mind paying for a pre-owned copy for half price. The publishers and Sony are shooting themselves in the foot here. Although MS's prices are not exactly cheap, the quality of the titles that are coming out are definatly worth the price they are asking. Plus, the prices of the MS 360 games are coming down in price now anyway. If Sony manage to do this, the PS3 will fail. At least one person has a pre-owned game I bet in there collection. Sony need to take on board MS's policy, and put the consumer first before there profits. Listen to what people want. Obviously they are not doing that because if they were, there wouldn't be a Blu-Ray player inside that machine that makes it soo expensive. Unregistered - $ony = $$$ hooas 05.24.2006 17:52 While all companies are in business to turn a profit, there comes a point when they start to do so at the EXPENSE of the consumer. When a consumers freedom becomes limited with a purchased item, things start to seem a bit out of whack. This is such a situation and it outlines some seriously warped thinking. I could understand, and even support this scenario if the software titles were digitally distributed, and not based on a physical medium, but then how could they justify that super expensive Blu Ray player.....simple answer = they couldn't. I think that publishers need to start exploring electronic distribution a bit more seriously. I for one would buy a title through the marketplace for say 39.99 no questions asked. This would lock that software title to my 360 (with the ability to re-download if the harddrive is damaged etc). If $ony puts this type of situation in place, you can expect this site to get a bit more crowded as people will convert in droves. I for one hope they do it.....so I can watch the behemoth crash and burn. Don't say you weren't warned $ony!! asdf 05.24.2006 18:11 I kind of doubt this. While it would seem that developers don't like used game markets, they have to see the benefit to them. That is, the ability to sell the game makes it worth MORE to the original buyer than it would be otherwise. People take that into account when buying a game. If they can't do this, then they just won't buy a game that they otherwise might have. Silver360 05.24.2006 18:18 Too bad $ony isn't a christian company or they would know about these sins( PRIDE & GREED). Oh well I will enjoy watching this disaster unfold from the sidelines. Unregistered - Hate to do it 05.24.2006 20:45 Rumor: Sony to disable used PS3 games, Sony: nope. Posted May 24th 2006 6:41PM by Ryan Block Filed under: Gaming So the rumor du jour about the PlayStation 3 was that Sony was going to put the kibosh on used games, making it impossible for PS3 owners to run down to their local shop and buy someone else's "old" copy of Metal Gear Solid 4, or, potentially cease game rentals for the system. We know Sony's had a past of polemical and often questionable decisions (see: rootkit), but this seemed pretty low, even considering their gradually lowered bar for treating the customer as king. We pinged our peeps at Sony to find out what they had to say before we took this to the court of public opinion, but before they could get back to us it seems Jennie Kong, UK PR Manager at SCEE told the Guardian that "this is false speculation and that PlayStation 3 software will not be copy protected to a single machine but will be playable on any PlayStation 3 console." So to those worked up about this potential rumor, apparently for now you can fear not about your used or rented game habit, it'll apparently be safe in the future console. Good thing too, man that coulda been uglytown If we don't state the facts.. We will be no better then sony themselves AND WE DON'T NEED THAT!!!!!! FreeMonk 05.24.2006 21:22 Fair enough, Sony UK director went on record to say it's false. So what. They told us that they wouldn't follow in MS footsteps and release 2 seperate console packs, but what has happened? Thay also said that every console would have HDMI, Wi-Fi support, yet only the higher priced one has that. I can't trust a word Sony says, and until the console comes out, and I can witness it with my own eyes, I'm happy to stick with my X360. Some of you may disagree with me on this but picture this how many people besides hardcore gamers are gonna shell out $600 bucks on a console?(nuff said)And Lord knows how much a game on a blu-ray disc is gonna cost, and you guys are aware that X360 disc prices are going down and that the wii discs are going to be under $50. Lastly, can you believe that the P$3 will cost more than its two rivals combined? Sony has lost their head. Sony needs leadership Microsoft know's this, it's why you hear them always pointing it out. Unregistered - REDMOND BOYZ 05.24.2006 22:18 $600 buck is too much money to invest in such a unpredictable company. Unregistered - Non-denial denial 05.24.2006 22:21 The latest "denial" is from an old Sony statement the first time this rumor surfaced - it was in response to the idea of marying each game to a single console. What Sony is now being accused of consdiering is an attempt to stop people from selling the license to play a game. There is a big difference between saying "games will be playable on all PS3's" and saying "we will NOT infringe on the fair use of our consumers after they purchase a title for the PS3". I still HIGHLY doubt Sony could be stupid enough to try this watered down control grab, but until I actually SEE a real PS3 operational and read the reviews of its ACTUAL (not THEORETICAL) performance, I will withhold judgment... Unregistered - DarkTangent 05.24.2006 22:40 I remember hearing a while back that since sony was trying to push this whole system lock thing they were ponying up and removing all region locks on the system. Unregistered - Completely Insane!!!! 05.24.2006 22:41 With all these crazy stories coming out Sony is doomed to fail before the PS3 even comes out of the gate. I am a hardcore gamer. I have owned every console that has come out since the 2600. This will probably change this generation of consoles because I am considering avoiding the PS3 like the plague. Here are my reasons why. 1. Price - $600 is way to much and there is no way I would buy the stripped version. I don't buy a video game console for movies. I buy consoles for GAMES and DVDs have a few years life span still. So the BD player is pointless to me for at least 3-5 years and for sure not worth $600. Also do you really want to spend $600. on 1st gen tech like the Cell and BD? I went through 2 PS2s and 2 Xboxs I can only imagine what kind of problems are going to come up. 2. No rentals or used games - If true this will kill Sony for sure. Are you telling me that I won't be able to sell my games that I have beaten on Ebay? I don't keep 98% of my games. I get rid of my Madden, NCAA, and NBA games 2 months before the new ones come out and now I won't be able to get rid of them since no one will buy them. I also buy used games too. Games that I might not want to pay full price for I will sure buy on the cheap side but if they did this rumor they would still not get my money because somethings I am just not going to pay full price for. 3. Online Service - Knowing all the issues Sony Online has had with their Massive Multiplayers I can see this being a big problem for Sony. A little less than a year a go Sony said it was going to leave it up to the developers. Sony then sends out a survey about Xbox live and low and behold Sony has an online service. So about a year to develop an online service to rival Microsofts is going to be a disaster IMO. I like the fact it is free though but how long can they do it for because this kind of service is not cheap. And piggybacking off Sony Online is probably not smart either if they use the same network backbone. At any rate Sony better fire their whole PR department because all these rumors and stories that are coming out are hurting their rep bigtime. Off topic, I am glad Microsoft is making a committment to the PC once again. I really fealt MS killed PC gaming with the Xbox. We all know the PC is the best game console period. 2. FreeMonk 05.24.2006 22:41 The only thing I don't understand is how will Sony be able to do this!?? The only way I can think of Sony being able to do this is if you have to register the game you've bought with the console you own online, but not everyoen will have online capabilities. Surely they can't write to the Blu-Ray disc to place a console code on there so it only plays on the original console. Also, what if your console breaks down, and you have to buy a new one? Surely it would have the same effect that someone buying a second hand copy and running it on there machine!? Unregistered - DIGITA-L-IFE 05.24.2006 22:50 PS3 is doomed, thanks to Sony’s ignorant attitude. None of us had the chance to seriously evaluate PS3 and the experience it has to offer. It’s impossible without a series of titles and an official product at hand, but from where we stand, Sony’s damaging attitude is all it takes to diminish the value of PS3. Kutaragi may be right in defending PS3; after all, he can’t criticize his own product, but instead of exciting users with valuable features and winning them over so they can start "saving," Kutaragi makes bearish statements in response to Nintendo’s announcement and Microsoft’s take on Sony. Last I heard companies were at E3 to impress media personnel, which yielded positive publicity, not make childish remarks when chances were against them. Sony has this "we are undefeatable" attitude, and with 60 percent market share, who can blame them? But do they not understand market trends and how quickly they change? Microsoft was a newcomer in the gaming arena with its original Xbox, Nintendo was ridiculous with GameCube and limited titles, therefore, Sony had the perfect opportunity to enjoy its dominating position on the market. However, the tides have changed. Microsoft is more calculating than it ever was, and Nintendo is scarily determined to change its perception. Can Sony not see what they have to compete against this time? Microsoft knows what its doing and Nintendo isn’t the underdog anymore. Sony, continuing with its ignorance, babbles random claims as if consumers are obliged to purchase a PS3. If that’s not enough, have a look at your demographics (predominately males, ages 18 onwards). That should give you a clue at their median salary and you can develop a roadmap to "success" from there. Unregistered - pRo loGic II 05.24.2006 23:15 The one year head start is making since, the hype is offten blinding, makes it hard to see. you'll never know the true about this story though, and it won't matter because of the game-Golems of Sony worshipping their precious PS-Ring. Unregistered - missy-e 05.24.2006 23:40 Development cost for games is getting spendy and this will be the fate for all three consoles in the near future. - one or two consoles? FreeMonk 05.24.2006 23:49 ^^ Don't talk silly! Yeah, the cost of developing a game is getting more expensive, but why do you think the price of the game is increasing!?? To cover that cost. Sony are just digging a deeper hole for themselves if they go ahead with this plan. With this, No HDMI support for the cheap package, forcing Blu-ray and losing major exclusive titles (Grand Theft Auto and DMC), it could be a very slow year or two for Sony. It's a shame, because even though I do call Sony liers (which they are), and hate the way they do things, I do enjoy the games on there consoles like Racthet and Clank, Jax, Tekken, Final Fantasy, MGS etc. I just wish they'd be more caring for there consumers like MS and Nintendo are. Sony are just in the game for the buck, at least MS and Nintendo are in for the buck but also care for the consumers. Unregistered - Daddy 05.24.2006 23:51 Man Sony really dont give a fukc do they. They bashed Microsoft for having 2 systems (core & premium) and have said "it would confuse consumers", etc.. But then have now go on to do the same exact thing. They are also going for a worldwide launch... AFTER Microsoft went for it. Plan to now see Sony's attempt to possibly work in Microsofts favor, while Sony can't keep systems stocked and delivered on time. Microsoft will have systems on the shelves ready to find a good home. They patented the motion tech for the controller after Microsoft already used it in PC controllers, not to mention only decided to use it after Nintendo announced doing so in their Next-Gen system. Sony is boasting about their Graphics chip that has been on the PC market for a year and some months now (possibly longer) when Microsofts is built up from the ground up totally custom for the 360 and does things the PS3's will not. Sony talks about how their Cell Processors are better than what 360 can do. When Im pretty sure there has yet to be a game made that uses 360's threaded cores to do any of the Next-Gen stuff outside of graphics, that will obviously make its stand against PS3. Just one Next-Gen game that will prove this is the Cell Factor vids for 360, they showcase amazing physics. Sonys copying of Microsofts guide button, cheap move that don't even need to be explained. Sonys remaining hype over the Blu-Ray format when the HD format already has a market and has been selling out everywhere. Im confused wether Sony is marketing this thing for it's Blu-Ray dvd player capabilities or its gaming capabilities? also the name HD is already a consumer friendly name as people already know what HD is/does, the name HD is already friendly to consumers because they get HD programing on their HD tv's. Not Blu-Ray programing on HD tvs. Sounds tacky to me when I think of the idea (for example) "Channel 5 brought to you in Blu-Ray!"... sounds f**king weird. But you hear "Channel 5 brought to you in High-Def" sounds more efficent and blends better. You don't hear of Blu-Ray tvs on the market or anything. I mean it's all weird. In the end High-Def is more consumer friendly and consumers are more aware of what it's about. Also the word High-Def has already built a large market for itself. If you look at all of your HD tvs they are HD tvs not Blu-Ray tvs, etc.. I think Blu-Ray will be confusing to consumers, because lets face it... not every consumer is going to JUST buy a PS3 because it plays Blu-Ray dvds. Take into mind the consumers that don't play games or are new to High-Def. If they are already familiar with DVD... when they look at High-Def dvd and Blu-Ray dvd. Then look around and see High-Def tv's but not a tv set with Blu-Ray tagged on it. Wouldn't that make it seem like a distant product? just think of that... Im not saying Blu-Ray will fail (because either format has to prove itself still, regardless of how great HD is doing currently), but HD already is established already outside of the dvd format... for it's all over tv sets, and tv programing ALREADY! where as Blu-Ray has yet to show face! Also Sony's boasting of 2 HDMI's that are now BOTH GONE on the $500 model and 1 ONLY exists on the $600 model. 2 were promised and now 2 don't exist. Also 1 ONLY exists on the $600 model, thus meaning the core version of the PS3 won't even be capable of the visuals Blu-Ray is capable. Sony's $500 core system makes less sense than Microsofts $300 core system. Microsofts core system you still can use memory cards, Sony's core system you can not. Sony's core system won't have WiFi connection just like Microsofts core system, only difference is.. in Sony's case it was supposed to be standard in the system but now is non-existant in the core version. Sony's core system won't have a HDMI output meaning the premium systems visuals will not be achieved, Microsofts core system can do HD with the simple purchase of a chord, etc.. also because of Sony's core system not having HDMI support also makes the Blu-Ray drive pretty much obsolete as it's visuals will not be utilized. I could think of more stuff put my ranting isn't letting me come up with it. Also Sony is losing a lot of its games to Microsoft for the fact that while developers know it's good to have all that space on a Blu-Ray disc, they also have yet to max out a current DVD-9 disc... which still has shown success in 360. The cost to make games between 360 and PS3 are huge also. As PS3 takes more coding/time to achieve literally the same things as 360. Also the format being a gamble is also something it's obvious developers are taking into thought as well. Oblivion on 360 proves you can have a massivley deep game and not need Blu-Ray to run it in all its glory. If HD-DVD or Blu-Ray fails it's not as huge of a burden on Microsoft because their system does not depend on either format, unlike Sony... I could also get deeper into this topic I just can't think at the moment of how much deeper I was wanting to get. On topic of Sony losing most of its games to Microsoft, you'd have to be blind not to see it. As a lot of their key developers are showing love to the 360. Also with some of them giving Microsoft some NEW/ORIGINAL and not to mention EXCLUSIVE titles. Where as more of Sony's game line-up lacks the NEW/ORIGINAL and EXCLUSIVE titles. Grant it Sony has SOME good EXCLUSIVE games but the over all HUGE majority are SEQUELS. While Microsoft has its fair share of SEQUELS as well... it makes up for its stacking amounts of NEW/ORIGINAL and EXCLUSIVE titles for their system. Something that is what used to make Sony so popular for. Don't forget Microsoft has yet to truely unleash all of its power in Japan as it's building up to drop a huge nuke over there as far as Japanese games go. As far as games, 360 has the better approach so far at least as it currently stands. Also in Japan, Metal Gear Solid 4 might be a key EXCLUSIVE for the PS3 system but it's not no Halo 3 key EXCLUSIVE for the 360. Because you don't see Metal Gear Solid ever getting broadcasted on the news here in America as the hugest selling game ever... like you did with Halo!. But one thing is for sure both PS3 and 360 will both be losing their key top notch heros next year. As Solid Snake and Master Chief head out on their final adventures. What it comes down to for me between the PS3 and 360 is this = The 360 already has more key EXCLUSIVE games from top notch developers that are heavy hitting ones at that. Where as Sony's key EXCLUSIVE games are hugely/vastley SEQUELS. This is what decided my choice in the 360 as also is the fact that the other games that look freaking amazing that I want to play will be available for both systems, catch is you can get the same exact expierence on 360 for a hundred -> hundreds of $'s cheaper! Now do you want a game system or a Blu-Ray player? or do you want a game system with the OPTION of a HD-DVD player? Do you like having a choice/opinion or having people make it for you? do you like to lead or be strung along? Think of my post, as I thought of all this before I made my 360 purchase. Competition is great for the market and all, but Sony won't be getting my money this gen to keep them going in the competition as I see their EXCLUSIVES are nothing but mostly SEQUELS and or their games are also available on 360. The Blu-Ray format also means nothing to me, so I will not be investing in that either. This is all a matter of MY OPINION which I am entitled to. But Im a current 360 owner and a soon to be Wii owner. Im not getting a PS3 because as far as Im concerned the things in the PS3 that I even care about that it can do, my 360 already does or already has things that PS3 has yet to prove it can do. Thus making a purchase of the system making no sense to me to make! Thank you for reading!!!! Unregistered - Wisheewashee 05.25.2006 03:21 At last, some info. I'd heard about this months ago. It wasn't just PS3 tho, it was reported as being applicable to all consoles (and in Japan only at that time). With Blu-ray's protections i wonder if Sony could actually physically stop the games playing in other machines? Hmmm. A bit more fence sitting before i jump into next-gen. (And where is Shenmue 3?) Xtrm L1481L1TY 05.25.2006 03:33 I Don't believe this is true because it would piss off game retailers and Video rental stores. I mean come on, think about it. There's no way Sony is that stupid to make a console that won't accept a rented game from your local video store. But then again, this is Sony, anything is possible. Unregistered - DIGITA-L-IFE 05.25.2006 03:38 Kutaragi’s overconfidence is due to PlayStation and PlayStation 2’s success, despite price criticisms. "However, when released, both had sales that were unthinkable for previous game machines. This is because both offered experiences that could not be had on previous machines." That might’ve been true, as I explained above, but the tables have turned, if you haven’t noticed. His [Kutaragi] interview was full of golden assertions. "For instance, "Kutaragi continued, "Is it not nonsense to compare the charge for dinner at the company cafeteria with dinner at a fine restaurant? It's a question of what you can do with that game machine. If you can have an amazing experience, we believe price is not a problem." Again, Kutaragi is only seeing one-third of the image. Comparing cafeteria food to a fine restaurant is all well and good, but when you have two other fine restaurants in the same area, you must drop your prices to attract customers. Otherwise, you risk losing to other restaurants. In this instance, these fine restaurants are Microsoft and Nintendo. "…And, as with the PS and PS2, we believe people who like games will, without question, purchase it." I don’t think it’s wise to make an assumption, but as we’ve all seen, Sony isn’t being wise at all. My point is not to criticize PS3 as a console, because quite frankly we need all the competition we can get to stabilize price points and market saturation. Besides, I couldn’t care less who wins the console war. I’m a gamer and a consumer, and as long as I get my console at a fair price with ample titles, I’m satisfied. The problem here is Sony’s ignorance towards competition, but most importantly, its consumers. To reiterate, instead of winning over consumers, it’s sounding as though we are obliged to purchase a PS3. Just to let you know, Sony, this is a deadly move, and by the time PS3 debuts, you want anyone and everyone who’s willing to purchase on your side. At the moment, you are not doing that. Don't; hurry up and buy! (pun) PS3 no good! (pun)lol Unregistered - Crusty1. 05.25.2006 07:55 So many comments about not being able to rent games, this story is talking about a different situation completely. First this is buying a license for a game so you can't sell it on, e.g. go to your games shop which you normally sell your games to, they will say no sorry we cant buy ps3 games. I imagine if you try selling on eBay you will be breaking the rules as it will be as a item that is not allowed to be sold on eBay, along with body parts etc.. So to the person who asked how sony could do this... Shops will not buy your PS3 games. The one console per game story was something that appeared months ago, and i can't believe even sony would be stupid enough to stop the rent-a-game system. Unregistered - ChUnk 05.25.2006 08:54 wow, Sony relies too much on there fan boys With this kinda stuff happening Ps3 isnt gonna make it as well as everyone is saying Unregistered - Darktangent 05.25.2006 09:10 I feel them but consumers are not going to stand for this. When you think about it game publishers only get the profit the first time the game is purchased at your local gamestop. Once you sell if back a couple of weeks or more later getting hopefully $35 dollars back from your original $59.99 or more purchase it is straight profit for gamestop because they turnaround and sell their $35 dollar purchase for $10 to $15 more than they paid. So if they get that game back two or three more times that one $59.00 to $69.00 dollar game has made them maybe double its orginal price. So now you want to screw the consumer in order to stop the resellers, this is like "cutting of your nose in order to spite your own face." Maybe one day when my system is packing a 100 or 200 gig hard drive and I am able to just download my game to the system will I support such an asinine decision. Do this and your company will go bye bye. Unregistered - Ric Hard 05.25.2006 09:47 The editor on this forum is off with the massive boost department. If this happens it kinds of ruin it for EA. There is No Way that people is going to own all the franchise of Madden, NBA Live, Fight Night or SSX for the next 4 to 5 years of the Ps3 lifespan. I love MADDEN, but there is a limit in how many I want to keep. So companies like EA who make sequals better think twice before joining Sony on this one, and as for Sony they need to comeback to earth and start to be real of the approach they are taking towards the public. Because as of today there is no way that I would buy a PS3 with all the BULLSHIT Sony has been throwing around. Get a grip Sony. This isn't like back in the days when the original PS was top dog. You will loose if you take this approach. Moostache 05.25.2006 10:49 I wish to thank everyone who responded to this in an intelligent and thoughtful way. The overall tone of the responses was very appropriate and the fanboyism was kept out for the most part. Very refreshing in case any of you has been to ps3today.com looking for info... It would appear that there still exists confusion as to whether or not Sony is denying the resale portion of this. There is no doubt that in November 2005 they went on record as saying the PS3 would NOT employ DRM of blu-ray to marry discs to their consoles. Of course, being on record does not necessarily mean its true - with any company, but certainly Sony has earned a healthy degree of skepticism regarding the PS3 (dual HDMI? 7 wireless controllers? Killzone2? etc.) I tend to believe that this watered down attempt at managing the control of IP AFTER a consumer purchases it is VERY high on Sony's long term agenda. We have seen it already in music (anyone else remember THAT fiasco?) and we will see it again. The control of how the media we buy is central to Sony's long term plans - hell I am sure if they could they would like to figure out a way to make you pay EVERY time you play a game or a movie. For the time being, I am unwilling to give Sony teh beneffit of the doubt any longer. Absent a strong, 100% forthright denial from Sony itself - unambiguous and in no uncertain terms stating there will no NO RESTRICTIONS ON FAIR USE AT ALL - I will continue to have my suspicions and my doubts. And for the record, even though this is a 360-site and I am a 360-owner, I have owned SOny's previous consoles and enjoyed them immensely, my issue is not JUST with Sony - I HATE DRM of all kinds because it is expensive and futile. Companies can no more stop piracy than the US government can win a "war on drugs" (or a "war on terror" for that matter). It is an exercise in futility and always will be. DRM serves only to drive up costs and infringe upon my rights to use purchased items in any way I see fit. THELANDSOFSAND 05.25.2006 11:30 I'm sure Electronics Boutique and Gamefly will love this. Seriously, this would destroy a huge sector of PS3 gaming- the pre-owned game trading industry is HUGE. WAST- What.Are.Sony.Thinking? Unregistered - sticky 05.25.2006 15:00 What's up THELANDOFSAND!! We're on eachothers buddy lists but have yet to play a game son! SMOKE WEED EVERYDAAAAAAAAAAY. FreeMonk 05.25.2006 22:55 Something to add to the Blu Ray vs HD-DVD format that wasn't mentioned that might play a big part in things. Remember that with HD-DVD, you can have the HD version on one side of the disc and the normal DVD version on the other side. So, if studio's release discs with both versions on at the same price as current DVD's, it will trounce all over Blu-Ray, because when you decide to upgrade to HD-DVD, you will already have a collection of HD movies to play. No so with Blu-Ray, because you'll have to yet again start your collection from Scratch. All at an expensive price, because Sony are the only people that are manufactoring the Blu-Ray devide, hence prices won't drop very quickly, whereas HD-DVD will be produced by many many manufactors, which brings the cost of the hardware down for the consumer. Lastly, HD-DVD will have had a 6-8 month jump on Blu-Ray, will be cheaper, and be in more homes before Blu-Ray sells one machine. Surely Sony can see this, and sort out this problem before shipping. Surely Sony can say "look, we messed up, we've made it right, we've listened to our customers and here's the machine you wanted". That's what MS basicly did when upgrading from the XBox to the 360. MS knew they messed up a little with only a few exclusive titles, and went after the big boys, and they are delivering. Any issues, Bugs, X-Box Live issues, Marketplace Issues, Hardware issues, they are there to sort us out with somesort of update to fix the problem. The only thing that MS has lacked on is the emulation process of Xbox 1 games, but to be honest I'm not too bothered, because I still have my original Box out. Overall, Sony will sell out of there console, and it'll be similar to the 360 situation. They'll lie at E3 2007 saying that they've had a record breaking sales for the PS3, and that they've sold way way more than they actually have, but in reality, it just won't happen. 8/10 people I've spoken too online, chat rooms, friends and family have said that they are not willing to pay $500-$600 for a PS3 console. That's worrying. Especially when there main target audience is Families and Teenagers/College Students. People like these unless very rich, won't be able to afford $500 let alone $600 for a PS3. I could hard afford food when I was at college never mind $500 for a games console. Rant over! Add Comment |
