The downloadable content for Oblivion has caused quite a big uproar for Xbox 360 owners. On the one hand this new content adds yet more to an unbelievably deep game and at a small cost it’s not too bad.
On the other hand the question has been asked many times; why were these not included in the game at launch?

The xbox marketplace gives the publishers the ability to still get this content out to gamers. The ability to have possibly ever expanding games is one of the reasons that the 360 appealed to me. I do not see this as the publisher holding back on game content that they could have added. I give Bethesda big props they are sailing in uncharted waters, not many other game titles have regularly offered such content. It will take them a little time to fine tune the pricing but they are testing the waters and this will lead to later game publishers having an easier time delivering these types of things to us gamers. Unregistered - soilderrrrrrrr 05.25.2006 09:58 yes we all rember what happened with some content for the xbox 1 , take soilder of fortune best online shooter but when they released new maps the file you downloaded was tiny meaning the content was on the disc already, but it was a free download so there was no real harm, i think they should make a soilder of fortune 360 or at least make it backwards compatible if anyone agrees give me an amen Unregistered - Ken 05.25.2006 11:13 Here is the thing...developers have to finish the game at some point...I think these ideas for the extra content were thought up too late in the development and decided to offer up the content after release of the game...isn't it the point of downloadable content anyway?? So in my view...let developers release games in knowing there will be extra levels and content later after release...all we are charged for as far as the fee to download is the cost to put up on marketplace and for a 1.00 or 2.00 is not alot to ask really...its silly if you complain about the cost.... Islandkiwi 05.25.2006 11:41 I'm 50 hours into it and have barely touched the main quest. That's a pretty good value. Downloadable extras only help to expand the game, so I fail to see the problem here. Unregistered - JO 05.25.2006 12:00 but holy crap do they have to charge for f**king horse armour Silver360 05.25.2006 16:43 The training chest for your security skill in the Pirates Cove is well worth it. After you clear out the skeletons and pay about 5,500 golds you get free stuff every week (game time ) and get to up your security skill. Well worth it to me Unregistered - cjk 05.26.2006 00:25 this is cool but im pretty shure that they took it out of the game on purpose to sell it to us later. and if they didnt why are they selling it.? why dont they just add it as an update. all they want is money! Unregistered - WTF 05.26.2006 11:13 Then stop playing video games, it costs a lot of money to develop a game you act as if its only 100 bucks to develop a game. Also if you don't think the downloadable content is a rip off its real simple don't buy it. That's all you have to do is choose to not purchase the content. The world revolves around money if there wasn't money to be made they wouldn't waste their time doing it. They are a business and the main objective of running a business is to earn profits not do charity work and go out of business. Add Comment |
