According to native magazine Famitsu Weekly the Japanese public are showing a growing interest in MS' upcoming console. After the Tokyo Game Show where MS showed off such Japan favorites as Bomberman, Armored Core, and Ridge Racer the interest has definitely risen.Far from it according to Famitsu interest in the console has jumped from 6% to 22% post TGS. Microsft did have games on the floor that mattered like "Chromehounds", "Ridge Racer 6", "Ninety Nine Nights" and "Enchant Arm". The kiosks were always crowded to and attendees showed genuine interest in the system. Microsoft was also able to take some serious coin out of Sony's exclusivity bag by showing that franchises like "Resident Evil", "Armored Core", "Gundam", and "Bomberman" now had a new home. And just because PS does well in Japan doesnt mean it will dominate as much as it did this generation either SPartan, I think there are interesting developments yet to come that will make you all see that this will be a better generation for xbox than you all expect, some due to MS and some do to Sony overestimating the value of their name in gaming and what they can deliver to the customer, the PSP is a prime example of Sony delivering one thing after promising others, and the PSP is a huge money pit to get it to perform with all the functions they say it can. If they did the same level of PR in US and Europe then I would imagine it would increase in those areas as well. MS is really going out of their way to not make it just a US thing. Nobody wants to wait 7 years for the next generation of a system to come out, and if they give Xbox that huge of a lead, they'll face the same problem Xbox faced in the US: all the early adopters already had a PS2, and most weren't willing to buy a second system. 22 -

As far as Sony keeping the lead I would care less becasue just like weather its all up to mother nature and not Sony, as long as MS keeps bringing us the best software and services we will always be a step ahead in true next-gen gaming experiences regardless of the numbers until people say "hey look all of the best games and rated games seem to be going coming out on 360"! People really started talking about the 360 around e3 6 months before its up coming launch so why talk about ps3 2 years before its launch? Sony will bury themselves if they dont impress come release in 07 with visuals that are twice as sharp as 360 given the extra time to complete there system! I dont think it will live up to any of it's hype and Japanese consumers may be starting to catch on just like developers that Sony might not be the best choice for them anymore regardless of who makes it. 23 -

everyone needs to chillUnregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.23.2005 04:11 its funny how everyone gets so worked up about what Japanese people think of the xbox 360, mainly why they don't accept it yet. of course this stems with xbox sucking ass in japan (i live in japan)...there were no games released here at all. it was frustrating knowing what games my friends were playing back home. so how can you blame them for not being excited about the 360? especially with the PS3 coming here (japan) next spring. there are too many fanboys on both camps, sony and ms...but it does come down to gaming fun. hardware is relatively cheap to steep game prices, so why don't everyone just get both consoles and get games which they want for both (both systems will kick ass). evryone is choosing a side, but no one has played either console yet. also alot of the aggression seen on these boards (language too) is pathetic. its all about fun, thats why everyone loves gaming. people need to chill and be happy about the console wars between the companies, because in the end the consumer wins from the competition. 48 -

They are really working hard to make the 360 a world wide success so congratulations to ms for their growth and that'll grow even bigger in time. Sony's ps3 is highly anticipated by many and they have the capabilities to creat wonderful gaming hardware and they have done a wonderful job of providing plenty of gaming action for alot. XBOX 360, of course i will buy, will bomb in japan again because of the sour taste from the first xbox sold here (MS's fault), barely any games came out here, trust me. there are no pre-orders for the 360 yet, barfely any advertisement. they are waiting for the PS3. why? not because its SONY, but because they know there will be oodles of games. everyone, stop thinking the 360 will own the world (i'm not a Sony fanboy, i am an xbox boy), and who cares. let the games speak for themselves. do you all work for MS? if not , chill out. its all about fun. 56 -
