Rare has revealed that some of the features originally planned for Perfect Dark Zero have had to be removed or downgraded to get the game ready for the Xbox 360 launch.According to an article in the November issue of Edge magazine the fifty-player online multiplayer mode that was promised for Perfect Dark Zero has now been scaled down to only 32. The DataDyne TV mode which would have allowed players to watch games and upload your best matches has also been removed from the game. However these lost features could possibly be added later via a download over Xbox Live, but Rare are not promising anything yet. Source: Edge Magazine via pro-g.co.uk Add Comment Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 18:50 well now this game will suck way to go doesn't need to be a launch title Unregistered - Matt 09.27.2005 18:51 This sucks i hope they dont charge u for the feuters later on if the have them to download later on live Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 18:54 I rather have the game at launch then have an extra 15 people in a battlemode and wait an extra month Unregistered - zebwinz 09.27.2005 18:55 I'm glad they're taking out the 50 player battles, who needs that many online players anyway. Have you ever played a 50 player battle? Things are so hectic that most kills are the result of luck, not skill. Plus the frame rate drop would be a doozy, especially if only a couple of real people were playing, and there were 30-40 bots running on the host's 360. And the TV mode sounds silly anyway. I don't even want to watch a match i've just played, much less one that somebody else did. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 18:58 well i wont be getting this game anyway wasn't going to get it before not my type of game but to everyone who is enjoy Unregistered - a 09.27.2005 18:59 I agree with 4 Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 19:07 I don't give a shit about either of the things they removed because i don't play on xbox live anyways. an im glad they removed things from xbox live instead of base gameplay because thats more important. and as for the person who said that they dont care about the close to christmas release, ur probably only 1 of 10 people who dont because launching it with the xbox will help them sell so many more copies it isnt even funny because who wants to be in a game store on a date close as hell to christmas. sparco220 09.27.2005 19:12 Yea, i dont really care bout the 50 players online. The DataDyne Tv Thing would hav been pretty cool though. Hopefully that wil be a download. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 19:16 this game wasn't something special and now it's worse. shouldn't be a launch title in my opinion. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 19:23 These were two of the things I was looking forward to. Another rushed game like halo 2. 50 people online would be spectacular, I'm a pc gamer, and this is what has always been lacking from consles. The DataDyne Tv Thing is quite similar to Half Life Tv. Anything that makes the console experience closer to that of a pc is worth a couple months... I do hope that a smartjoy frag is released for the 360. JsonHenry 09.27.2005 19:24 This doesn't suck. It will be corrected later by download. What is the problem with that? I would rather play 32 players at launch than I would waiting another two months to perfect the code so I could play 50 the day it is released. Also, coming from someone who plays 32-64 players on the PC, 32 players in deathmatch is almost too much as it is. If this game was more like a battlefield game, then yeah, 50 players would be important. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 19:27 The thing is, rare stated the maps were created for fifty players. Now we will either have areas of the maps inaccsessible, or too big a space for 32 players. Add that to the fact that their are only six multiplayer maps, and you got a piece of crap on your hands. everythings always rushed. skooby 09.27.2005 19:29 You are right... Plus it is sort of like a Half Life 2 Update. This is awesome to think that games can get patched after the fact. I imagine though the patch may only work for those with a Hard Drive, unless the limitations are strictly server side only. PAUL CERULA 09.27.2005 19:38 Well this is still good to have 32 players online. 50 seems like it would be too much and perhaps Ghost Recon will have more, if not whatever. With a bandwith like the xbox 360's being more than 5 times PS3, you can't miss. Visit this link for enlightenment http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/617/617951p1.html Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 19:39 Don't pretend to know what your speaking about. Bandwith is not hardware based. Xbox 360 does not have any network bandwith. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 19:48 as long as I have it Nov 22nd I'll have just as much fun playing the 1player mode and with my friends Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 19:50 I didn't want this game till I saw the videos it's going to be BIG PAUL CERULA 09.27.2005 19:50 Yah I didn't mention that xbox 360 had 5 times MEMORY SYSTEM bandwidth. So sorry to make a small mistake previous writer. Regular bandwidth, the internets, has nothing to do with the console. But when that bandwidth gets the console that's where the memory system bandwidth deals with it. It is important for smooth online play so shut up and stop whining. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 19:53 Memory bandwith has very little to do with online play. All's that memory bandwith is used for is moving information from the ram to the processor. Since little static information is stored in the ram, their is no reason this would effect online play at all. The L2 cache is the important thing with online play, and the memory bandwith is not the reason for the 50 player option being ousted. Rare had 50 players running online smoothly. They had to rush this game for launch, and didn't want to mess with the net code too much. YHBT. THL. HAND. Unregistered - Pinkus777 09.27.2005 19:55 Those A-Holes at Microsturd better allow RARE to finish that DataDyne TV and offer it via download. I was looking forward to that. You know how many people would be pissed if Gotham TV was removed from PGR3, alot. I rest my case. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 19:56 who cares Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 20:00 after this game comes out the complaining will stop and everyone will be happy and everyone who holds out will see or play the game then buy it Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 20:01 I doubt it. Anyone with a capable pc needs not another mediocre console shooter. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 20:05 i doubt that they will stop you from accessing areas on the map an as for the map being to big for 32 players wtf sit down before trip on youre own stupidity Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 20:08 You sir, are an idiot. They already stated that maps increase in size and decrease in size depending on the number of players. Maps can easily be too big for 32 players. Play a real game. Like Battlefield. Do some research. And Shut up. Sandman 09.27.2005 20:46 only thing I'm really missing is the Datadyne TV thing...it's always cool to watch the best of the best and see how they do it. At least they will be able to update it...and knowing how much Rare and MS are going to back this game they most likely will. Game Junkie 09.27.2005 21:10 All I know is, microsoft just needs to have everything done as well as possible this is a huge launch and everything has to be right. Hard ware, and software. Nowbody's looking forward to a incomplete product or a rushed product. I'm not knocking them I just want things done right. As a consumer that's a legitimate and resonalble request. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 21:12 Meh, they'll just throw these features in with a couple new maps and release another version of the game in 6 months to get another $30 from us. I'm not going to miss 50 players, 16 players sucks in Halo 2, why would 50 be the magic number? The video thing did sound cool though. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 21:27 You guys whine and complain about everything. Man, I was really looking forward to playing with 50 people. Come on now, unless the map is larger than life, do you not realize how hard it would be to stay alive? Then you whine about not being able to see people play. Who wants to spend their time just watching other people roam around and shoot others. If you want that so bad, invite your nearest homeless guy off the street corner and let him play while you watch. As far as loading your top scores, does life really suck that much that you need to flaunt a score you got. Oooo, look at me...I'm the big man on campus.....or should I say, the big man living in my grandmother's basement. The things they removed were not even selling points for the game. Get a grip, Halo 1 was a success without thi stuff, and PDZ will do the same. Ohh, and as it has been stated, there is always the possibility of a patch. Unregistered - Anonymous 09.27.2005 21:28 i agree with comment #4, although that tv mode sounded pretty cool. too bad though. Unregistered - Anonymous BITCH 09.27.2005 21:29 *Mod: This person had nothing constructive to say... and has been silenced * Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 21:38 #31, you need a good spanking. Hush up and go do your homework or something. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 21:41 its past my bed time Unregistered - Anonymous Coward360 09.27.2005 21:54 i agree with comment 32! Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 22:01 WAT THE HELL , there is no news on oblivion - GREG Unregistered - Eranix 09.27.2005 22:03 Hey, let's just hope they tune the map sizes down a little. Who needs 50 players anyway? 32 is a lot. DataDyneTV is sorta a loss, but it's just a cool feature that haven't been in the other games. Hey, we survived, right? PAUL CERULA 09.27.2005 22:12 If anyone knows what the ps3 package for 400 is going to be could you post it. I think that package won't have a hard drive or headset, just the console, a controller, and of course the necessary cables. If so the prices of the two consoles, xbox 360 and ps3, are definately not equal in hardware to price. Too bad sony had to use expensive equipment having small improvements to boast the ps3 with hi-tech technology. I'm just curious people, if this is a common fact refrain from being a douche bag. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.27.2005 22:17 * mod: This person had nothing constructive to say... So he has been silenced * resfan 09.27.2005 23:11 I hope you dont speak like that in real life Unregistered - Coward 09.27.2005 23:26 you sir ARE an idiot, they have stated the more people on the map more areas are accesible, lower #'s of players and parts get blocked off, so next time you shout your sily little mouth off be sure of what you're on about. MAJIN BUU 09.28.2005 01:54 i think that the full size maps and 50 player games as a download to keep interest in the game after launch ! Unregistered - Anonymous laptop gun owner 09.28.2005 02:47 who cares if it has 8 or 80 online...its still the jaw breaking champ right up there with halo...to those nuts out there who dont think it can hang with pc fps shooters...dont stand on the tracks cause your going to get hit...ahhhh wheres my mouse and keyboard...i will take a controller s any day of the week and twice on sunday... thank you rare/bungie Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.28.2005 07:11 I care, because I'm tired of console games sucking because of time restrictions. E.G> Halo 2. Any reasonable Halo 1 player is well aware of how many features were cut, and that it now sucks. spray and pray. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.28.2005 07:33 Big deal. So it's only 32 players swearing and running around like idiots instead of 50. That's good. Also, who the hell wants to sit and watch people run around shooting at each other? Watching a race in PGR3 is one thing, but come on... Get the game out for day one, and if you can't handle that things were slimmed down a littl(not affecting gameplay one bit), go and bury your head in the sand. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.28.2005 08:21 deep in the sand Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.28.2005 10:17 this is the kind of shit that i hate to see. i would have waited for better features if i had too Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.28.2005 13:09 Your use of the word "too" is not in the correct context; you should have actually used "to". You also need to work on capitalisation, both at the beginning of the sentences and the single letter "I". Now, go away and stop moaning you pathetic piece of shit. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.28.2005 13:15 They should have polls for this kind of crap and ask gamers if they are willing to wait a month or 2 for a better game....that is weak...if you like halo 2 would you have been upset if they delayed it and made it better than it is or made the macthmaking better...thats what bothers me about the buissness its all about the money not the games.....what do you prefer? Unregistered - Coward 09.28.2005 13:37 get a life and stop picking on people, have you ever thought he or she maybe foreign and does not fully understand the english language. Unregistered - Anonymous dark 09.28.2005 14:03 please do half the people who make these comments know what they are saying. this game will be good even without the extra people or the kill tv.don't get me wrong i was looking forward to kill tv but maybe it will come as a download later. i really enjoyed this game on 64 because of the multiplayer options, there has not been a game that delivers as many options or different scenarios, and i love the bots even though i have xbox live, anyway this game will be able to hold its own Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.28.2005 14:11 This game will own you. 32 is more then enough. Unregistered - CDOG 09.28.2005 14:20 Those extra features are not necessary, especially the one where u watch your best matches. Only the real hardcore nerds will miss that one. This game is still going to kick ass. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.28.2005 15:04 Exactly the hardcore nerds are the ones missing out. Just like with halo 2. Bungie toned it down for the n00bs. Unregistered - Anonymous Coward 09.28.2005 16:11 that means 31 people will now be killed twice as much by me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unregistered - mikeuk 09.28.2005 20:55 Look the features are online features so by definition people will have acces to xbox live to dowload them, if they bought the core without the hd then thats their fault Add Comment |
