Bad news for trigger-happy gamers looking forward to the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat - it's been delayed by a month, according to a post on the website of developer DICE. The post reads: "The launch of Digital Illusions’ game Battlefield 2 Modern Combat for Xbox 360 will be in April 2006." So there you have it.

Oblivion - Xbox 360 version beats PC version?

According to a preview over at GamingTrend.com, the Xbox 360 version of Oblivion seems to be the slightly better. -- "Personally, I felt that the Xbox 360 was the better version of the two. While the PC version has the ability for mods later, the Xbox 360 framerate was much smoother than the PC version. The PC's we used had a top of the line video card, so if these machines had issues running the game smoothly, you'll have to turn off some features to get a smooth framerate on systems with older video cards."

Game controllers are by far the most important aspect of a console. The console could be amazing, but if the controller is uncomfortable, bulky or otherwise crap, gamers will shy away from playing for too long. Some gamers prefer to stick to authentic, official game controllers (myself included!), whilst others are happy to try out ‘cheaper’ versions from 3rd party manufacturers.

The Japanese Xbox 360 needs big name games as soon as possible, because right now its performance here is embarrassingly poor. Last week only 1,314 of Microsoft's shiny new consoles were sold across Japan, compared with the 23,433 PS2 systems and (at the top of the tree) 52,099 Nintendo DS handhelds. It's not good enough, and it's little return for the energy Microsoft Japan is putting into the promotion of Xbox 360 in this part of the world.

To jointly celebrate the impending launch of its revamped site and the fourth anniversary of the Xbox in Europe, Pro-G (Pro-G.co.uk) will be hosting a Halo 2 Slayer tournament on Xbox Live during the weekend of 18-19 March. The competition will be organised and run by industry veteran and AlienPants Marketing Director Luke 'Duke' Newcombe. On day one all registered players will take part in knockout-style heats, with the winning players proceeding to day two to compete in a 1vs1 finale tournament. Prizes will be awarded to the overall winner and runners-up, comprising of a selection of Xbox and Xbox 360 titles.

Amtech Research analyst predicts 10-12 million Xbox 360 sales by year end
